He's simply more prepared for an encounter of any kind than Stark ever is, and Tony's reputation as "Marvel's Greatest Genius" is extremely undeservered--he's Marvel's Greatest Engineer. Reed Richards is more intelligent than Tony in every area, Riri is depicted as being a better engineer than he is, and there are a whole slew of other genius characters who outclass him in their specific fields. This is as opposed to Batman, who is not only a rival for Iron Man in all scientific fields beyond mechanical engineering, but who is also a far more adept tactician and detective. While Tony's absolutely a smart man, his brain simply couldn't keep up with Batman's on a battlefield. His solution is usually to blast through an environment rather than utilizing it to his advantage. The whole purpose of his suit is to turn him into a tank so that he doesn't have to think very hard about how he gets the job done. "I have a plan: attack." Excepting instances when Iron Man's suit is stupid OP, it's nothing that Batman hasn't already had to handle in the form of various robotic adversaries.
