lemmingllama
But, it kinda makes you think though, doesnt it? It certainly made me think.Take a look at our solar system, then compare it to a atom. now you see the neutrons surrounding it right? Both seem to be the same.So by cutting an atom, we cut our solar system? Or by cutting an atom, we cut another miniture solar system?
Monad-Gnostis
So by cutting an atom, we cut our solar system? Or by cutting an atom, we cut another miniture solar system?Your right, see?Its pretty messed up huh?
† Anras Rune
First of, it would be electrons that the planets represent, not neutrons. Second, that model of atomic structure has been defunct for almost 15 years i do believe, so that previous statement is kinda null.As to lemming's statement, he is right. We have split the atom into subatomic particles so many times, chances are as you are reading this someone is smashin an atom. We've even managed to determine the make up of most subatomic particles and havent made a subatomic discovery in a while now.Anyhoo, to clarify, there is only two definitions of the word singularity that being the technoligical singularity and that which it steals its name from; the blackhole. So this thread's name is a bit off. Second, the LHC isnt any danger, niether is any other particle accelerator for that matter, so please stop with the misinformed shit (that went to people in general, not anyone specific).Oh, and last but not least, what the fuck have you been smoking/watching neb? (MIB comes to mind...)
RikuoAmero
@Rune would if you were to cut this singularity? obviously it gives off a ton of energy, but, cut it at a slower speed. They say on the other side of the singularity that there is another dimension, but they also say that, it could ultimately destroy ours. oh and dae314 I'm also too lazy...Uh, for the love of...I just got back from another forum where a guy had something interesting to say but completely refused to provide evidence or sources to back it up. I called him out on that.As for you? Who's "They?" Another dimension? More details please! Plus, your original post was far too short. If you were going to say something about Laugh just explained the whole thing.I was just going to tell you guys that they actually inventeda Machine that can stop or grab a atom and hold it still. then put it in the original post. Don't hide it down below after half the people on this site are wondering just what the f*ck you're talking about. And for being too lazy? Now I don't want to know about whatever it is you're trying to tell us. I agree...you must be high on something when you made this thread.
† L4ugh
This topic is kinda getting out of handI think the reason it's getting out of hand has to do with the fact that this topic doesn't actually have a topic. Read through the post you've made so far and you should be able to see it. You go from talking about the original singularity that will destroy earth to splitting a single atom, and now you're talking about how you think solar systems resemble atoms. People in this forum have already expressed their interest in knowing more about what you're talking about but every time you make a new post it's to either change the topic or explain how you don't know what you're talking about. This is why people like myself are getting a little aggravated. We're looking to have an interesting discussion about the topic you brought up but we can't figure out what we're suppose to be talking about.I'm in the same place as Rikuo at this point. Trying to figure out exactly what we're suppose to be talking about is just to taxing to be worth any conversation that would come out of it. What we need at this point is links to real data that can explain this more, because it really just looks like you're pulling this stuff out of your butt. lemmingllama
I would suggest that unless we can get some sources in here, then this should be closed
Monad-Gnostis
lol, ok close it. I think I got enough information on the thing now...oh and thanks Anras and Lemming you've guys have been a fantastic help.
lemmingllama
No problem, anytime you need it. Though the whole singularity thing is kinda ridiculous anyways

Im mean c'mon is the world going to be destroyed by something like that?
RikuoAmero
I totally agree. Im mean c'mon is the world going to be destroyed by something like that? You're the guy who suggested it in the first place...As for a machine that can hold an atom still...can't be done by modern science. Only way would be to freeze it to literally absolute zero and that's never been done. We've cooled very close to it, but never actually got there. I feel like changing my mind about it. sigh although, I do wish their were smarter astro physicist out there...
lemmingllama
We have been able to reach very near to 0 degrees kelvin, so it could be possible to cut a very slowly moving atom. And nebula, just try to reach some science journals and keep up with some news, then it becomes easier to follow all of this fun stuff
