Gurvir
I have several anime series on my hard drive, but I want to convert them to a fromat that the xbox 360 can read so i can watch it on a larger screen, but whenever i convert it I either lose the subtitles or its a audio codec the xbox cannot read. So im looking for a program that does this both audio, and video codec conversion as well as encoding subtitles, i currently havent found one. Koby
The thing is you'll have the burn the subtitles into the video itself as the XBOX doesn't support soft-subs. Some programs will do this but it often does not keep the style of the subtitles and usually makes them ugly. VirtualDubMod will work but you need the DirectVobSub plugin and you have to load it every time. VirtualDubMod only works with avi files for the most part so you'll have to use AviSynth for most of it, which can actually be really complicated to beginners. Really you'd be better off just downloading the avi versions of files and watching them rather than trying to re-encode the mkv releases.

†L4ugh
I could try and help you put a simple script together if your set on going with the encoding route. You really shouldn't need to many filters since it's already mkv. You'll be loosing more quality re-encoding anyways so filtering on top of that wouldn't be a good idea unless it's necessary. The process will require more then just making a script and encoding it, because I'm pretty sure you have to strip out of the subs before you can load them into your script. It would also be a good idea to index the video as well. Programs you'll need would be avisynth, mkvtoolnix, mkvcleaver, whatever external filters you decide to use, and something to encode the finished script that supports .avs files. The encoder I prefer is MeGUI, but you can find others on sites like Doom9 and VideoHelp. I also use AvsP for creating and checking my scripts, but MeGUI does have a built in tool for script creation. You could even use notepad to create the scripts but you wouldn't know about any syntax errors until you tried to load/encode it.A good place to check out some of the filters available for use with avisynth is Here.If you haven't already, you could also try Handbrake but some people have had issues getting it to burn in subtitles. Anooxy
You shouldn't really use those complicated tools just to watch using your Xbox360. The tool I linked is perfect for getting stuff to work on devices. And if you really, but really, want to go down the complicated route... use AviSynth and get x264. But I don't recommend this for your situation.

ZeroPenguins
Well I actually use Handbrake and convert it to MP4 with burn in subtitles. Then steam it across to my xbox 360, I haven't done this in awhile now but it worked just fine.
