arktik_lobo
the res movies were never scary and after res hit the next gen (gc, ps2) they stopped being scary more about the thrill of killing zombs then figuring puzzles out.
Kasoivc
Lol, Resident Evil Movies are a joke; anyone who considers them to be true to the actual game series is a serious lunatic that deserves to be locked up. Most of the latter/more recent half of the RE games are just primarily action, the only aspect holding them to their predecessors are the "suspense" parts that keep the gamer on the edge of the seat - though arguably a movie can do the same thing, be all action and suspense which makes the game even less so entertaining and worthy of praise.By a general assumption, we seem to perceive scary as something like "Dear God! I just shat a brick, I will never be able to go near windows in a dark creepy mansion ever again" and then apply it to our real life situations rather than "Oh, scary music is playing, must mean I have to get ready to fight a boss" and think nothing less of it when we carry out with our tasks throughout the day.RE6 does look a bit dark and gruesome, but I have a feeling they may not hold up to the early resident evils in terms of difficulty and "oh shit" moments. It might end up being another RE4, but dark; and longer.... much... longer. Unless they end up making all the characters that are in the game play short scenarios, then it will suck. enoculum
A mash up with dead space could seriously revatalize the series---------- Post added at 08:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:01 AM ----------the Darkness 2 wasn't also that scary. Hoping any iteration would also seriously look at how dead space did it... DEAD SPACE ROCKS
† poetictragedy
I was looking into playing a Resident Evil game, but as someone who's never played any of them, I'm not sure where to start. Do you have to begin with the first one? Or is there one that's great by itself?
LTJG RIO
Actually the good thing about Resident Evil is you can start just about anywhere. Each game has different character's, plot's and unique monster's. The old ones always return like the zombies the lickers and the giant humanoid tyrant class creatures. But honestly it's just nice to put yourself into the shoe's of a helpless cop, college kid, secret agent, third world soldier, or convict and test your grit at getting out of the dark infested world that is resident evil. Not only that but, if your a stickler for story there are Resident Evil novel's which are a fun read and each game after the third one has like a back story page and the character's usually reference earlier job's because after the second one you tend to see a lot of the same character's over again. Regardless the first one you play will probably end up having the character you get hooked on. I played the first one for playstation and the first character I played was Chris Redfield. Since then he's always been my favorite character. There's puzzle's and problem solving and quick reflexes required for all of them and it can get frustrating but, you can start wherever you want. If you want the full story though I would start at one then go back to RE 0 then forward to RE 2 and 3 then code veronica then outbreak and finally RE 4, 5, and 6 (the newest one which was awesome by the way). Throw in Operation Raccoon City if you so chose and you enjoy shooter's cause that's all ORC is, is really a back story for what was happening around Jill, Leon, and Claire while they were in the Raccoon City outbreak. Sorry I wrote so much I hope this helps good luck.

I think I'm going to start with 2, just to see how it is. Thank you~
LTJG RIO
No problem RE 2 has Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy. Leon's like the fan favorite with the girls right now. He's like a James Bond, Calvin Kline mix with a witty mouth. And Claire's a badass biker chick from college who also is Chris's sister.

I also just found out that you can download old PS1 games to play on the PS3. ALL THAT WASTED TIME SPENT TRYING TO GET RE2 TO WORK ON MY LAPTOP HAS BEEN FOR NAUGHT. *facepalm* This is a glorious discovery though. I can't believe I didn't realize it sooner, derp.

Hahaha someone should've told ya how easy it was to get the games lol. Emulators and stuff are okay but off the ps3 will likely be a better experience, actually getting to hold a controller is always good. When it comes down to DO THEY CARRY ON and all that, no they don't carry on but sometimes you might not understand something they reference back to(It's usually the racoon city incident) but that's no big deal really and since you're playing 2 first you should be just fine Poe =)
