Who won WWII?

Well Russia had the most losses but also they had the battle that was the turning point of the war. All and all america had the economy jump started because of the war which was a plus for us. Germany got owned because of tactics toward fighting a two front war and worst of all Hitler and Stalin's pride when it came to Stalingrad. That was like a penis measuring contest that neither wanted to lose. So I guess The Allies one but as far as a single nation, America did very well with money and well everyone else just about repeated what caused the second world war in the first place, I mean WWI treaty of versailles caused a lot of problems that helped Hitler come to power and bam here we are at world war II and thinking to our selves... wow demilitarization really did wonder.... nope.

It was the Allies (Britain/Commonwealth, USA, Russia, Canada to name a few their are many more) won the war in Europe and Africa and only did so by working together. In the Pacific again it was a collaboration of the Allies working together along with a couple of America's new big bombs that won the war against Japan. But they say there are no real winners in war so maybe the question should be who was the biggest loser?

If your talking the end result (post war) then as with WWI America was again the only true winner. We all know what happened to the axis powers so sticking to the allies:

Britain - Though they won, it didn't feel like/wasn't really a "victory". Much of the mainland had been bombed,. Strict rationing continued in Britain into the 1950s; while at the same time they began giving up their empire. . the British were now totally content with seeing the UK decline, everyone sort of accepted it and that attitude persisted for decades.

France - Like with the axis not much needs to be said, basically they tried and failed to reestablish their empire and cut a deal with the other allies to get a share of Berlin.

Russia - As said above Russia took terrible losses, both in people and material, and was really devastated. They continued to have severe problems with supplying even basic necessities. However, they now had a neat position in Europe, and were finally a modern superpower so you could say they still won. Lets just say for a most of the USSR it wasn't really a victory.

To sum it up Europe as whole was pretty much devastated, it took massive amounts of aid from the Marshall plan and years to get Europe back on its feet.

Then you have the US, we took the least military casualties of any major power (around 400,000 - terrible but far better than the millions or tens of millions lost by other countries). And had almost no civilian losses (compared to other countries which had almost as many or more civilian losses than military). Besides some small exceptions no part of the mainland had been bombed or invaded. We also had gained incredible technical expertise both domestically and from the immigration of foreign scientists. Post war GI bills help increase education and soon the US was at the top of the world. Of course this was partially because until the 1950s Europe and Asia had been so devastated there was really no world left besides the US.

-- Wow that was a long post :)

Who won the war in general? The allies obviously.

Except France, France never wins wars. Lolocoptor, JK.

If we start throwing in criteria that establish "who won" It'd either be the U.S. or Russia. Most of the other Allied Powers, although they contributed significantly to the war effort (France, Italy, Britain, etc), it's really only U.S. or Russia who deserve the title imho.

Didn't Britain control most of the skies and part of the sea?

And our intelligence was really good for cracking codes and passing on information.

America came very close to not even having a Navy to enter the war with.

And it's only down to their president with his quick thinking that America didn't lose to Japan.
