nellawin
this is a warning to all hardcore gamers out there. please in under any circumstances you should do the following. this is for your own safety.1. do not sit and play infront of a game for 60 hours straight (this might sound ridiculous but there are some gamers who take it to the extreme.)2. do not take the games seriously with regards to gambling or exchange of currency in real life (frankly i had a lot of encounters with this where a game was used for gambling and it became and all out brawl)3. games are not meant to be your reality (some people say that games are better cause it's where they can become heroes but some people totally lost control and focused their lives on games ignoring everything around them)4. do not skip meals or drinks because of games (some people were apparently stupid enough to play counter strike for 3 days without eating or drinking when these guys where brought to the hospital they were considered dead)5. do not ignore necessities when playing ( similar to the previous one but with regards when you do a no. 1 or no. 2)well that's all i have to say...comment whether it be negative or positive but hey just saying what i've found out and experienced. Diablo
I had been a hardcore gamer some 6 months back, but now I've reduced my gaming to 2hrs a day. Point no. 1, 2 and 3 are the ones I've been following for many years. Now I'm finally tryin to quit. If anyone needs help you should check out http://www.olganon.org/ , it came really late for me, or rather I never thought I needed a help. Gaming addiction is very bad it wreaks the lives of the people.
† ballard
I'm guilty of #3. Sometimes when I'm depressed I play games to escape reality for little awhile. It really helps me to get into a better mood.

Dan Den
Your all a bunch of noobs in my book, (except Journeyman he knows what a true hard core gamer is), I never let science tell me what my body can do, I payed the campaign mode of Halo 3 for 3 days straight with no sleep and only ate an energy bar and sports drink and nothing happened to me, so where is your proof now. A gamers body is specially built to with stand 3 days straight with no sleep or food. So where is your science now mwahahaha.

So where is your science now mwahahaha.Hehe, I used to be hardcore on gaming myself (on CS, I loved 1.6 with all i had) but it tires you down progressively, and if you do it often when your older and really push it you really just asking from an heart attack/aneurysm (sp?) The science is there, it just takes time. But yeah, about the thread in general, anything can kill you anyhow, just because some drop dead on a keyboard isn't a particular bad thing, there are worse ways of dying... car accidents, parachutes not opening, genetic illnesses etc good advice either way, if you *happen* to die in from of a screen no worries, but comitting suicide over a wow rampage is just plain stupid. If you enjoy games so much, by logic you should want to live longer to play them more.PS. oh and I disagree with rule no. 3 for philosophical reasons (lol)
