Yuyu Hakusho has been ripped!?

I'm sure those who have watched Yuyu Hakusho and Bleach probably already know this as I have heard it before but never believed it due to never finishing Yuyu Hakusho. But recently I started watching Yuyu Hakusho again because I liked it before, and as I got further into it I began to notice a lot of stuff from Bleach.. :/

We all know it was Bleach who ripped because Yuyu Hakusho is almost a decade older. =P I heard when Bleach was first introduced by Kubo Tite they turned him down saying it was too similar, and thus he changed it, but obviously not enough for people watching it to not notice. Though some of whats been ripped is only used in fillers of Bleach and I'm not so sure if Kubo even does the fillers.. O.o

Just think about it (some spoilers ahead)

In Yuyu Hakusho, Genkai has three humans with only one special power each, one with the power to copy, one with the power to make illusions/steal souls, and one with the power to stop someone by stepping on their shadow... and this was all to test the heroes for the enemies coming in the future.

In Bleach, Kisuke, has three mod souls each with only one special power, one with the power to copy, one with the power of illusions, (this third is a little different though) and one with the power to travel in a different dimension to escape attacks, etc.. and then they put the heroes to the test to train them for the enemies in the future.

The tests they went through in Yuyu Hakusho was similar to the tests they went through in Bleach, with the illusions and mind games.. etc.. But they were a few differences of course or otherwise it'd be too similar and probably rejected.

Then the whole thing with Kuwabara (however you spell it) losing his powers after the first big showdown (like when they leave the tournament), and Ishida losing his during their showdown (in soul society).

There is a lot more things that are very similar as well, but I'm getting tired of typing, lol..

So what do you think? Do you think when the person he sent it to turned him down and told him it was too similar that they should have made him change it alot more before accepting it later or what? Or does Kubo not have control over the fillers in which the biggest portion of the remaining rips are in?

I'm not really sure, but I'll continue to watch Bleach. Though if they stop midway in the Hueco Mundo arc to do a Soul Society filler like they are talking about doing in a week or two.. I'm not sure if I will continue watching it anymore.. lol.. :/

Of course there are plenty of similarities of Yu Yu Hakusho in Bleach. Just look at Hitsugaya's bankai, and compare it to Hiei's dragon of the darkness flame. A lot of similarities there. There heights are also somewhat the same too. Or how about Komamura with the 5th seat of the 11th division (I forgot his name)? They have some similarities as well. I think that is why I like Bleach. The plots are different from Yu Yu Hakusho, but some of the characters resemble that of Yu Yu Hakusho.

I never thought of Hits and Hiei being linked like that.. but yeah Bleach may be a lot like Yuyu Hakusho, however it's still different enough that I don't feel like I'm watching the same thing I guess.

Well, both originated from the same premise but developed differently and to tell the truth Yu Yu Hakusho is infinitely better than Bleach, despite the way Yoshihiro Togashi draws hastly and sketchly (check the latest Hunter x Hunter chapters to see what I mean). Even if the drawing is far from being beautiful when he hastes like that, I still like how he develops his narrative.

I didn't know the creator of Yuyu Hakusho made Hunter X Hunter. I recently downloaded all 62 episodes + all 3 OVA's of Hunter X Hunter though I haven't watched any of them. I have no idea what it is about either.. I just downloaded a different anime (can't remember which one) and one of the animes was misnamed and I found out it was Hunter X Hunter, so I skimmed through the episode and thought it looked interesting so I downloaded it all. xD I might never get around to watching it though because I have so much stuff to do and a lot of anime to watch such as whats coming on this season.

I've never seen HunterxHunter, is it any good?

@Nutz: Yu Yu Hakusho is a great anime, but plot wise I'd have to say Bleach is better. Don't get me wrong Yu Yu Hakusho also had a great plot, but it was certainly straight forward with little to no twists.

That's true, but the problem I see is that no matter how many twists Kubo makes, all of them are plain, almost childlike imo. You can almost always tell what the twists will be because they are most of the time cliché.

Oh and just to make it clear, I'm comparing the mangás and not the anime. Yu Yu Hakusho is infinitely better as a manga than as an anime.

And Hunter x Hunter is very good if you don't care about crappy drawing (which is my case)

woah, its been forever since i've seen yu yu hakusho. i miss it.

finding this thread is interesting, i never gave it much thought but the similarities are uncanny.

bleach has cool moments but yu yu hakusho just out classes it, more and more now that bleach is being stretched as far as it has been.
