Manifesto
I guess because it's not your usual shonen it's unique and keeps you hooked, if you can look past the 'different' art style it can be one of the best anime you have ever seen, by the way Iki, epic post. Catwoman
The original One Piece and comic is amazing. I tried watching the dubbed but it only made my eyes bleed as much as the Naruto dubbed did. I never really knew One Piece existed until I read it in Shonen Jump (I rarely watch anime). Up to that point, I thought people meant a swimsuit...
AngelMayLaugh
Naruto and Bleach never made me cry. I've cried about 5 times reading One Piece and it has brought me to tears quite often. Some of the situations in one piece are quite sad and can evoke many emotions.Actually I lied, I cried a few times while reading Bleach because it hurt my brain from the sheer stupidity that happened during a few of the chapters. Gman2072
It really depends on how long you stick with it. Once you get involved in the story you learn to love the characters it becomes a great show. Also Oda is young so its very likely he will live to bring the long story to a close unlike Naruto
VincentChaos
It's funny, it's interesting and it's not boring. That's why.
hoppity123
It takes a while to really get into it. Dont watch the funimation version. Since its a long series, i recommend reading the manga.

JiveT
I got into the manga first but it took me a long time to even give that a shot. There was something about the art style and the story descriptions on the back of the volumes that made me think it was horrible. But then I got hooked a few pages into my first read and I went nuts for it. I love the imagination and constant influx of memorable characters. I think it sort of fell into the same trap that all these other manga that go past 20 or so volumes where it starts to feel..."made up" for lack of a better description. But I want to keep on with it and see it through.
ambiades
I first ran into One Piece when Shonen Jump started up in the US. I gotta say, I HATED IT... but fast forward a few years to around christmas 2010... i started reading the manga again and now i can't get enough.I was still skeptical about the anime having heard of what 4kids did, but then i found out Funi did an uncut dub and i have been watching it ever since. Also of note, there is a reason it is the best selling manga of all time, IT'S AWESOME! tyrant1988
I'd have to agree with the topic - the series while I'm not sure about story or character development has always looked too weird for my tastes - like dragonball z but more rubber and some of the characters look just awful
