Final Fantasy: Dissidia 012 duodecim

I just started this recently when I got the pre-order and it is a bit different than the orginal. It now allows a RPG style world map and the original dissidia style map for dungeons and new characters. I also heard that when you finish the main story, you can play the story of the original game, which is making some people think it was pointless to even get the original.

There are supposedly going to be some DLC for this one, also, unlike the orignal game, such as a helmetless Warrior of Light.

You can discuss about the game here, if youwould like to.

Well, i recently finished the 012 Story Mode and i have to say that i liked the story of the original game better. In this one, they've done everything possible to push Lightning as the leader, and i don't even like Lightning that much.

I'm much more accustomed to using Kain or Yuna but since the story mode forces us to play as a particular character, it's a pain learning all of Lightning's moves.

I rather liked the Assist system they put in and how it's "opposite" to the EX system.

Also, the Party mode system really helps you out if you've played the first game. There has to be at least ONE guy who you've leveled to 100 and with him, you can start a Party battle - Tournament style and get EXP for all members in your party at the expense of that one tough guy.

Thank god they let us transfer levels from the first game.

After finishing the 012 story mode, you get to play the story mode of the original game in with the new mechanics. So far, I think there's a few extra cut scenes here and there and the conversations are starting to make more sense now.

However, it's a real pain going over the ENTIRE story mode AGAIN.

Gilgamesh makes an entry in this game and becomes buy-able after beating him with Bartz in a "Report", which is another new feature of this game.

The first 5 or 6 reports are written by Cid's wife from the first game and the mother of Garland and these reports give insight on how the world was created, similar to the report system in the first game.

I've finished the 012 and 013 story modes in it but the 000 one is tough mainly because i have NO IDEA where to go. the entire world map is open and cluttered with Gateways and Lv 88 Champion type Manikins.

it's not really tough, just really inconvenient as i wanna hurry up and get a re-match with Feral Chaos.

I must say, I've only been playing for a few hours and I haven't used everyone yet, but Vaan is freaking awesome in this game. I thought he was going to suck, but he's turned out to be one of my favorite players thus far.

yes, surprisingly enough, he's one of the easiest and most flexible characters in the game with a wide range of weapons and moves, from Greatsword, Sword and Axe, and Spear to Rifle, Crossbow and others.

His Crossbow attack is similar to Laguna's Machine Gun attack but more deadly as it becomes fire-able from mid-air early on and one you start taking damage, you'll continue to take damage till arrows run out.

His HP attacks are nice too. His Inferno is similar to Zidane's Grand Lethal attacks while Torrent can easily take out anyone on the ground.

I love how vastly improved this game is. The improved story mode was enough to make me sold. In addition to Cloud, who I mained in the first title, I really like Lightning and Tifa in this one. Laguna's awesome too. Not to mention, this game had one moment of awesome. The second time I started a new game, I picked "I am a master" just to see what would happen, and I love the "So, you think you're awesome? SCREW YOU FIGHT FERAL CHAOS" stage they just threw in there. That had me on the floor with laughter.

We just got it here, enjoying it so far but not very far through the game. Amazing battle systems, although not an overly huge fan of lightning myself. She reminds me a bit of Squall in the first one, the HP attacks have to make sure they have contact or else no damage.

EDIT: What I mean by that is there is no flexibility with the HP attacks for Lightning in my opinion.

Once she learns Lightning Strike, she becomes much easier to use.

Lightning is one of the weakest newest characters in the game. At Lv 1, she only has one HP move - "Razor Gale" which involves sending a double blade with incredibly weak hoping flying towards her opponent.

She's even more useless than Cloud in the sense that her attacks are completely predictable and with enough time, she won't even be able to land a bravery attack on you.

Till Lv 45 or so, only her "Commando" moves are good enough in a fight and i've basically just spammed them over and over in Story mode. Her "Ravager" mode doesn't get any good attacks till 45.

Yuna is one of the better characters introduced in the game, along with Vaan, Kain, Laguna and Prishe.

These are the only ones i've leveled far enough to know their value but Lightning has been very disappointing. I haven't done much with Tifa either since ALL her attacks are close-range ones and i'm more of a Mid to Air fighter.

Very interesting information, I'm disappointed to hear that Lightning is lacking in comparison to the others overall... But I think I will definitely check out Yuna. I was going to have a look at Tifa but I think she will be overplayed because of who she is :P and I don't overly like to follow the norm.

Iki, thus far who would you say your favourite to use is?

Well, if you consider ALL characters from Dissidia + 012 inculding secret and unlockable characters, the one i use most in battles is Zidane. Equipping him with Speed Boost+++ and a wide variety of Bravery to HP Meo Twister attacks give him a lot of flexibility to weave around opponents before going in for the kill. His attacks may not do much damage individually but he's fast and the sheer number of his attacks really piles up a lot of damage.

His simple HP attacks are good as well :-

1) Free Energy :- Get right in the face of your opponent (or back) and BAM! instant HP damamge. it's almost un-dodgeable cuz it's that fast.

2) Grand Lethal :- VERY good homing. Vaan's Inferno attack is similar.

3) Shift Break + Tidal Flame :- Tidal Flame is a ground attack that slowly homes in on the opponent, thus getting him to jump around in the air and at the same time, i spam Shift Break. Shift Break on it's own is easy to avoid but coupled with Tidal Flame, it has a high chance of connecting from far away.

4) Stellar Circle :- This is another Point Black attack that also draws the opponent in for a while. I use it right after a block cuz then the opponent staggers and CAN'T avoid getting sucked into the vortex.

These are all his HP attacks i have installed and if used correctly can lead to a LOT of easy wins, specially against weak opponents who won't even see him coming.

There are a few more characters i like when im tired of playing as Zidane all the time and i'll post their best moves later.
