Kingdom Hearts Anime

okay, time to put this discussion to rest.

1) The Kingdom Hearts franchise is lead my Tetsuya Nomura who HAS worked on Final Fantasy 7 : Advent Children.

2) The Kingdom Hearts story is FAR from complete. and according to Tetsuya, the games 3D and 3 will cover a large portion of the story. So, if they start making an anime which stops at that part where the story ends, they'll either create their own ending or leave it at that, none of which are very good solutions.

3) There's not really much they can put in the anime. Most of the time in the game, we were always off fighting Heartless or Nobodies, so they'll just be taking the cut-scenes and animating them. Why even bother that? Just take the cut-scenes from the game and put them in the anime.

Even if they make DIFFERENT anime on different games, like Chain of Memories, 358/2 days, Birth By Sleep which have been completed, it won't matter much because you can just watch the walkthrough videos of the games on Youtube.

wait there's mangas? I don't think I like the sound of that lol. Kingdom Hearts is a great game(s), but, I really think it needs to stay in that realm. Not to shoot down your idea, because it would probably make a good anime, but, Kingdom hearts is a game for me, not any else.

The thing is that many Square Enix games tend to not make animes because of their success as a video game. I'm not a anti-KH person but I honestly don't think an anime would do well; it is better leaving it as a game than risk tanking a good series with a hasty cash cow idea. (I had brought this idea up, but for a game called "The World Ends With You" in the funimation forums once and this was the same explanation I received, and also learned about the awesomeness of Durarara!!).

Well we have some other Square Enix titles already...

Star Ocean EX (well more of a Tri-Ace, but published by Square-Enix). This show was actually alright in entertainment value but as far as being anything great, it wasn't. Average artwork, average generic story, decent generic characters, etc. Nothing stood out about this series.

Final Fantasy Unlimited, this thing just sucked so bad I didn't even finish the first episode.

Final Fantasy Legend of the Crystals, based on the 5th game I believe. I haven't played the FF5 game (ff1 and ff5 are the only ones I haven't had the chance to play any of), and therefore I haven't watched this and can't really say much about it besides the artwork I saw when I skimmed through. I don't remember the year it came out but lets just say it's certainly dated.

Final Fantasy Advent Children (and Complete), well everyone knows of this so I won't even bother talking about it. Lets just say this was actually good.

Final Fantasy Spirits Within, same as with Advent Children.

These are just the ones I can think of that are based on games Square Enix has either produced or published. I could certainly see at least a Kingdom Hearts movie being possible although Disney would probably want to be a bigger part in it. I couldn't really see a TV series being made though.

I honestly didn't think Final Fantasy Unlimited sucked, just under-rated; and it felt repetitive because it was somewhat following a Pokemon-like pattern. (Usually protagonists get into trouble, Kaze saves them; onto the next monster of the day-episode). The story didn't really make much sense in my honest opinion but I wouldn't say that my time was wasted watching all of it as a kid.

My opinion aside, the point being there are very few Squaresoft/Enix games that have even attempted to wander into the film/anime industry. A lot of which I strongly believe have the potential to be successful, but are most likely better off left alone as games. I could agree that a KH movie could be made, but most definitely not a series of some sort.

If the past is any indicator to go by, a movie would be the best bet over a series.

But really, disney would have a whole host of problems with it, and the end result would it being a G rated adults at kids prices movie, and then little kids who have no idea about the games running around waving keyblades.
