Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are upcoming role-playing video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch. Announced in February 2022, they are the first installments in the ninth generation of the Pokémon video game series and are set to release in late 2022.

Scarlet and Violet are described by The Pokémon Company as open world games, including both urban areas and open wilderness in the game without borders between the two. The game introduces three new starter Pokémon: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.

Various towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders. You’ll be able to see the Pokémon of this region in the skies, in the seas, in the forests, on the streets—all over! You’ll be able to experience the true joy of the Pokémon series—battling against wild Pokémon in order to catch them—now in an open-world game that players of any age can enjoy.

Already completed all 8 gyms, 3 of the Team Star members, and 4 of the Titans.

My current team consists of:

  • Pawmot
  • Farigiraf
  • Ceruledge
  • Baxcalibur
  • Tinkaton
  • Lokix

Yes, I benched my stater, Quaxly, right after it's final evo. My team level is currently between 52 and 55.

Plan to finish off the remaining 2 Team Star members and the final Titan before doing Victory Road.

Should be able to knock that out quickly. This game has been a complete cakewalk so far.

A random reminder for anyone here who was able to read this on time, and owns Pokémon Scarlet/Violet! There are currently 3 Mystery Gift codes that are available to use right now:

  • THA12022CHAMP = Lv. 50 Shiny Competitive Grimmsnarl. (code expires August 18)
  • DARKTERA0006 = Lv. 50 Charizard w/ Dark Tera Type. (code expires by the end of the month)
  • GETY0URMEW = Lv. 5 Mew w/ Random Nature, Tera Type, and STAB Move that Matches Tera Type. (Code expires on September 18)

Funny thing about the Charizard code: It has 4 digits for the number because, well... the Pokédex now has over 1000+ Pokémon now. Charizard is National Dex #0006, basically.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Update 2.0.1: Full Patch Notes Listed

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s first DLC, The Teal Mask, is here, and with it comes a hefty patch for the base game. Some changes include bug fixes, UI tweaks, and new Pokémon additions to the Paldea Pokédex with The Teal Mask DLC. Here are the full Pokémon Scarlet and Violet update 2.0.1 patch notes.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Update 2.0.1 Patch Overview

Update 2.0.1 adds support for The Teal Mask DLC, the first half of the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero downloadable content for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. While the patch adds in several UI tweaks and fixes, the biggest takeaway from it is that players who don’t own the DLC will still be able to trade for the new additions to the Paldea Pokédex, regardless of whether they own it or not.

Quality of life updates include camera settings, the ability to fix the minimap to the north, and, for all those budding Pokémon photographers out there, the option to prevent a Pokémon from moving around on the field so you can snap a photo without worrying they’ll ruin your perfect shot.

You’ll find the full patch notes for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet update 2.0.1 below, courtesy of The Pokémon Company:

Release of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask for Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet

Trainers who have purchased The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will now be able to enjoy adventures in Part 1: The Teal Mask. Please click here for more details on Part 1: The Teal Mask.

Additional Pokémon

For Trainers who have not purchased The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, additional Pokémon may appear via local or online communication modes.

Newly Added Features

  • You will now be able lock the mini map that appears while you are out in the field so that up is always north. You can do this by pressing the Right Stick twice while you have the map app open to select the App and mini maps locked setting.
  • Camera settings have been added to the Options menu. These settings will let you adjust how the camera works while you are out in the field.
  • We have added a feature that allows you to signal a Pokémon accompanying you in the field to stop and wait where it is. To give this signal, press the Left Stick.
  • You can now take pictures by pressing the A Button in the camera app.
  • You can now play music by pressing the ZL Button or ZR Button while the camera app is open. You may find that Pokémon accompanying you in the field and people around you will react to the music.
  • While using the Union Circle, Trainers can now share photos they have taken with the camera app during that Union Circle session with the friends they are playing with.
  • We have added a feature to TM Machines that allows you to filter for moves your Pokémon can learn. By interacting with a TM Machine and selecting the option to filter for learnable moves, you will be able to display only TMs containing moves that a specific Pokémon can learn.

Bug Fixes and Feature Adjustments

  • Incorrect descriptive text for the moves Ceaseless Edge, Dire Claw, and Stone Axe has been corrected. The descriptions for these moves previously included the words “aiming to land a critical hit,” but these moves do not increase the critical-hit ratio in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. This wording has been removed from these descriptions.
  • We have fixed a bug where the Itemfinder Mark would not be applied to a Pokémon even if the conditions were met.
  • Wild Pokémon that have the Titan Mark will now reappear in the field after a certain amount of time if they have been defeated.
  • We have made adjustments to the way Pokémon icons are displayed in the Boxes.
  • Other select bug fixes have been implemented.
