Smileyyakadoo
For the longest time I always wanted to do this ever since Windows XP Media Center but never had any money for a capture card or some hd stream box, to record tv shows/movies to my pc. Any advice on what parts n such? really like to have the best and simple to use to guide throu tv channels, the works. by xmass I'll have some money. My server I use emby/kodi/wmc and osx if not osx, I can use my extra pc I have that has windows on it for the purpose of the card to be used in. JohnFlower
What you use depends on what you want to watch... I use a TBS6285 to watch DVB-T muxes. The TBS6285 also supports DVB-T2 and DVB-C. It doesn't support cable/satellite decryption cards, but TBS does have cards that has the option. I'd recommend TBS cards if you want to run them under Linux. I doubt many cards have drivers that support OSX. Windows... I'm sure Google will give you plenty of sub-optimal options. ZeroPenguins
Well you have another option of using a network TV tuner, though you can achieve the same results using a server with lots of TV tuners and streaming that over the network to any device. Though I think the first option is cheaper as you get a more AIO package rather than having to own a PC/laptop for a server.
