Darkshadow6400
Hey guys, dunno if this is in the right area, because it's an assistance topic, but also tech. I received an email from my ISP earlier informing me that we may be infected with a virus, looking at the data they provided, it appears to be a conficker. I have run Malwarebytes on all the computers on our network, but nothing showed up indicating a conficker virus. I only just heard about it when I received that email, so I am in unknown territory at the moment. Here's a copy of the main body of the email:We have received reports from the ACMA's Australian Internet SecurityInitiative (AISI) that a machine accessing the Internet using your TPGService is causing unwanted traffic to be transmitted, such as spamand viruses.A summary of the last few complaints have been provided below:[2014-08-23 12:47:31] [14.202.197.221] Malware: Conficker - local_port: 1904, remote_ip: 38.229.177.53, remote_port: 80, domain_name: 38.229.177.53[2014-08-22 17:51:44] [14.202.197.221] Malware: Conficker - local_port: 3093, remote_ip: 216.66.15.109, remote_port: 80, domain_name: 216.66.15.109[2014-08-22 11:44:51] [14.202.197.221] Malware: Conficker - local_port: 2227, remote_ip: 216.66.15.109, remote_port: 80, domain_name: 216.66.15.109, data: GET /search?q=0 HTTP/1.0[2014-08-22 08:41:12] [14.202.197.221] Malware: Conficker - local_port: 1740, remote_ip: 38.102.150.27, remote_port: 80, domain_name: 38.102.150.27, data: GET /search?q=0 HTTP/1.0Any help would be great. ZeroPenguins
What a load of shit, I never heard of Australian ISPs contacting you about infected computers. What you do with your internet service is to no concern to anyone! Edit:Before you get offended, I was referring to that email, not you! Darkshadow6400
Haha Im not offended. They normally don't care, but I guess when it starts transmitting spam and viruses, they buckle down and pretend to care. Gotta protect that image after all
ZeroPenguins
Well what I mean is it's probably a fake email. Hint hint: SCAM ALERT!
Darkshadow6400
I thought so too, except it came from my ISP providers email address. I have heard of things like this happening before, but I'm going to call them in the morning to verify.
