Cell Phone signal problems.

can I do anything to fix this problem that won't cost me a ton of money?

Switch to another provider?

What I have does better than the others I've "tried" and by that I mean seeing if friends with other providers can't get a signal at my house and they can't :/

Is there any business around your house that may be blocking signals? I know here in my town there are call centers (telemarketing businesses) who use equipment to block cell service so their employs can't use their cellphones during work and such. It ends up blocking services for a few blocks away from their building.

Also is your house like in a valley or some sort of low spot compared to your surroundings?

How far away is the nearest cell tower (if you even know where one is)?

What service are you using and what services is it that your friends use that had issues too?

  1. Oh wow, I never knew places did that, but no I don't live anywhere near a place like that.
  2. Yeah, it's in a slight valley. I know that can be a big problem sometimes.
  3. Well, lemme think on that. I don't know millage but I'd say about 12 minutes from where I live. That I know of.
  4. I have Verizon and they had ATT and Sprint.

I doubt there is anything that will help me out besides like a signal booster, but I thought I'd ask and thanks for taking time to help.

What happens with cdma technology like verizon is that you are able to fit more people in the spectrum using the code division technique. the downsize is when there are too many people in the network the you lose QoS. Verizon is able to boast about great quality because of their exorbant rates few people would use the service thereby artificially controlling the network traffic. So if you have a majority of people in your area with verizon and only a few towers you can expect just as bad quality.
