Chrome New Features Opinion

I'm using Chromium Version 32.0.1676 (229526) x64

I've actually updated to the latest version but it didn't work out for me because of the new page and apps tab was horrible in my opinion although i heard there was a way for me to disable the new page style and restore the old one but I can't find it anywhere.

 

For those who uses chromium or chrome I wanna know your opinion because there seems to be a huge debate over the "new page style"

If you don't like it, just install an old version and set it so it won't update. I personally don't use Chrome, still sticking to Firefox. Either way, there are several sites that keep the installers for each version so just google for the version you want.

To revert back to the old new tab page with your apps on it, type "chrome://flags" into the address bar, scroll down to

"Enable Instant Extended API Mac, Windows, Chrome OS" or use find. Set it to disabled and restart the browser. This way you don't have to re-install. Hope this helped.

Personally i hated the integrated search bar cause it's pointless and having your history show up every time you want a new tab is just plain annoying. Since most of the websites i use have an app for it, having to go to the app bookmark at the top was really frustrating.

Yea i knew about turning that off too in the flag section, and I had most of my stuff in chromium instead of other browsers

I'm currently on version 33.something. There has been quite a few issues with flash lately, so I'm updating ~twice a day.

The other annoying thing for me is the scroll bar that looks nearly pure white for me who wears glasses(this is embarrassing) could hardly see it. I had to stick my face on the screen as close as 30cm < just to see where I am in the page LOL

The scrollbar also lacks arrows now (has for some time). It's not that I use them a lot, but I like to be able to step down the page a little at a time.

This version hasn't made it into the debian repos yet, so I'll have to wait to hate it.

 

You can try installing a scrollbar extension, I use a modified version of this. I just changed the colors to something that matches the themes I use and narrowed the thumb a bit more. You can find the modified version of my extension at the bottom of my user style linked form here, or here. The extension I linked to isn't the only one for scrollbars either, but it's the only one that I have experience with.

Regarding the arrows, I don't really miss them because my mouse has really smooth scrolling.
