Legado
My sister gave me a desktop computer that is already set to HDMI, so how do i reset it so that i can view it on a regular computer monitor?
JohnFlower
Easiest way: connect it to something that supports HDMI~ You could try booting in safe mode (hold F8 at boot). That might require you to edit registry values, which is dangerous to people who don't know what they're doing.
† Mute point
Well, when you plug the regular monitor in, it should autodetect it and set your resolution accordingly. That's what mine does...
ZeroPenguins
What I find strange is the fact it still thinks there is something connected to HDMI. Usually Windows will auto detect and pick a source that is plugged in. So it should revert back to secondary if HDMI is set to main. Somehow I find the question quite strange, care for some more details? Oh unless you have something like a TV and monitor setup then reverting back is easy. For Windows 7 and 8 it's something like this:Control Panel > Display > Adjust Resolution > you get this http://puu.sh/3HfQx/22a83ed04e.png Change whatever, pretty self explaintory. Legado
Well i've tried to plug the computer to a monitor and its not detecting it, but when i plug it back in to a HDTV it detects it. Hmmm i might try plugging it on a monitor again... hopefully it'll work. Thanks for the help!
JohnFlower
Change the setting while it's plugged into the tv :\ EDIT: You should be able to have both screens connected as well. Edited July 21, 2013 by JohnFlower
