Halo 4 (Possible Spoilers)

So, I've been playing Halo 4 for roughly seven hours now. And I gotta say, it's giving Reach a good run for my favorite Halo game.

I'm about 2/3 through the Campaign and it's been a solid story so far. But what's got me hooked the most is Cortana. An important part of the campaign is the effects of Cortana running past the usual lifespan for an AI. This causes moments of intense emotion and un"Cortana"ish actions. When she isn't having these moments, she's in constant fear. The actress for Cortana game one of the most solid performances I've seen in a video game. Absolute props to her.

Of course, Master Chief is still an absolute badass. Leaving piles of bodies behind him is just another day in the office.

Multiplayer has kinda taken a hit, though. The maps are few and don't offer much in diversity. Granted, I don't think any map can get better than good ol' Blood Gultch. The loss of Firefight, as well, drops the multiplayer fun a couple of notches. But, I'm mostly a Slayer guy myself, so I manage.

Overall, this has shaped up to be one of the most solid games of the year. It's classic Halo at it's finest. If you haven't picked it up yet, please do so. I highly doubt you will regret it.

Discuss.

Last weekend, my brothers and I did the campaign on 4 player legendary coop. It must have 6 hours or something and it was awesome. I gotta say, I was a little bit disappointed with the ending (not, I'm gonna whine about it and tell the developers to change the ending, like people did with mass effect), but I would've done it differently.

I still haven't tried the multiplayer, but that's what we're going to do next weekend.

I loved Halo 4, just finished it yesterday. As for the ending I didn't mind it, I have an open mind for these things and really I think doing what they did was a bold move, but from what I hear there is going to be a Halo 5 and 6 so it will be interesting to see where they go after the ending.

I agree with you MABFanForLife with reagrds to the multiplayer, it does feel like a let down this year, and Forge just feels like it was thrown together. I am still happy with the Halo game though, the multiplayer armours are great, best I have seen in any halo game and there are plenty of other things I am happy with. All in all I think 343 did a good job for there first Halo effort.

I am fine with the story and gameplay, but when it comes to playing online, I have to so i am very disappointed. First off, like MABFanForLife have stated, there are little maps to play from. And 343 have yet to at least throw in some forge maps of there own. (Maybe I am being impatient) And most important of all that made me stop playing Halo 4, is not having a rank system like the previous Halo games.

I like to see what i am capable of. For example in Reach I can become an Onyx, proofing that I am amount the best players. ( As well as reaching top 5% Onyx during one season). On the plus side of rank games, you are at least match up with players that is at your level, instead of putting up with noobs.

I also hated how you can lose by joining a random game that has started already and is near ending. It makes the total wins/matchs-played useless.

Overall I like Halo 4, but won't be spending hundreds of hours playing online like i did on past Halo series. Hopefully they will throw in rank when there is an update....

Lol @ Ending. I already predicted it and it has to do with what happens in a certain chapter. It was kind of the direction they had going since they had hinted at it all game, not to mention in the trailers. I can further elaborate or just note one single piece of information for others to research and put two and two together to understand my guess @ the next two halo entries in The Reclaimer Saga.

Though I thought it was weird, the entire setting of the game felt... short? Did it not? I mean in previous you games, you spent your time on a Halo Ring, or Earth, or Reach; and you went up and down inbetween through various logical environments.

Between the two primary settings in Halo 4, I felt the game was a bit short. Like the whole thing while aboard the Ship? Was it necessary for a HUGE part of the ship to seem like a icy tundra field? Dafuq was the point in that? You move from a generic military style coridor inside a ship, to a icy-tundra like room, and then back into the coridors. OH, lets not forget there are edges in this "tundra" that you can fall off and die. WTF? You're telling me that a Spaceship has a giant room, that houses a tundra, and lacks a bottom to? That you can just slip off the edge and fall straight into outer space? Alrighty then @ SOME Hope of Logic.

Anywho. I felt like the game was short, the ending felt rushed for this first entry in the saga.

I haven't personally played through it on Legendary yet. Can you confirm any special ending? I'd already done a check on youtube probably a week after its release for any additional endings but I think you get the same one regardless of what difficulty it is.

As for a PC version; Dunno D: LOL.

There is a special thing at the end, but only if you do it on singleplayer legendary. I personally haven't finished it alone, but my brother did.

I liked Halo 4, but i thought they made some questionable choices. Cortana's redesign is way too oversexualized IMO. She was fine before, and now she looks like freaking Katy Perry. Also they got the covenant all wrong. And the beloved music from past games is gone. It seemed less like Halo than the others

Well. Halo 4 is the start to a new trilogy. It's no longer Master Chief vs. Covenant Forces. It's Master Chief vs. Himself.

The entirety of the new trilogy is to uncover what is truly under Spartan 117's Armor. Is this being underneath the armor, truly human? Or just a mechanical weapon that humans have scientifically engineered for their species success and survival? Obviously the answer would be the former, in which the Chief is seeking his Humanity but we do not come across that in this current game; it just barely scratches it. Cortana's redesign is sort of to match the Chief's aging. Cortana is much smarter and advanced for a Smart A.I. compared to her former in Halo 1; and we even learn that she existed in Halo: Reach.

I finished the Halo 4 campaign with a friend the day after it came out on legendary and I think the story was right next to Halo reach story wise as I think both are really good. While there is stuff to like and hate I did like how they  are showing a more human side of Master Chief and I am definitely looking forward to the next Halo.
