They were planning to take control of Konoha. But the Konoha elders saw through their plans and wanted to eliminate them. So who knows maybe Mardra did but Sasuke discovered Itachi there after Madara killed them. and plus i remember Itachi's last words well. "People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define "reality". But what does it mean to be "correct" or "true"? Merely vague concepts… their "reality" may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world, shaped by their beliefs?" So take that in what you will and plus he said Madara was not dead much as they believed he was.and on a side note i can't belive Sasuke is still doing the wrong. his brother doesn't want him to attack The Leaf. he just wants him to live. Also i gotta ask what in the world is "Amaterasu?" is that what those black flames where during the battle between the two? My reaction playing it was holy shit! In fact, it is the most powerful fire technique which is said to never go out. The only way to stop the black flames is by a powerful sealing technique. Itachi uses Amaterasu with one of his Mangekyou eyes. It is a special power of the mangekyou. When the black flames hit anything, it never stops burning. So, the only way to stop the fire is by sealing the fire with a fire sealing technique.Suppose, your friend gets hit by Amaterasu. So, how do you stop the flames from burning.
