Jobless Any Advice?

So I got "terminated of employment within three month probationary period" Basically I had to work alone being a cook at DQ and I wasn't perfect enough. I am in no way a bad worker if I cared enough I could have kept my job there but there was no place for me and no hours for me. There was just a manager being too hard on me and expecting the impossible standing in my way.

So I've only worked two jobs my whole life A&W and this DQ job. There is NO WAY I am EVER going back to A&W that was one of the WORST places to EVER work. I only dealt with it for 3 years because my ex told me he would kick me out if I quit. Then after I dumped him I had to start paying rent and it took me 2 years just to get the job at DQ.

I'll be trying to get EI tomorrow with my brother while I look into getting another job however I have some problems that limit me greatly. I suffer from sever social anxiety. Being around groups of people freak me out, my hands start shaking and I can't considerate on anything. If I were to be put into a position where it was my responsibly to work around customers that would be a disaster. Lets say I was a till worker with a long line up and the customers were getting bitchy. The stress and the tension would make me start shaking, miss counting, dropping money etc. If it were to continue I would have to run into the bathroom and sit in the futile position shaking for some time. This kind of thing has happened to me before. Luckily every time it's happened I've been alone just freaking out thinking about everyone I've seen.

Cooking can also be a pretty bad job for me. It seems to be the popular thing to yell at the cook even when they are doing okay. I can't handle being yelled at it makes everything 10x worse.

My other problem is just that I only have up to a grade 10 education. I've tried over and over to just get worse and worse grades every time. Only reason I got to grade 10 is because I took resource classes.(basically easier social studies, math, English and science)

I don't really think I'm gonna get much help here but I'll go to one of those places that help you find a job and see what my options are. The sever social anxiety isn't on my file cause I've never been to a therapist or anything. I refuse to take any medication for it if there is because I've seen the side effects of those things and I don't want that. If I go to a therapist now they will just say there is nothing wrong with me because I'm at an okay state right now because I don't have anything stressing me out at the very moment but I will if I get a job around customers.

A therapist who listens to your story and then tells you that nothing is wrong with you because things are "okay" now is a bad therapist. That'd be like if the shrink I talk to told me I wasn't depressed because I'm capable of socialising with people without breaking down.

Is there no way of you getting a GED? There should be resources out there for your use to study, both online and off.

If you're able, perhaps you could do art commissions? How is selling your plushies doing for you? Could you possibly work at a theatre?

I really hope it works out for you, seira. It really sucks that you got treated so poorly.

GED costs $60 just for one try and I have never studied my whole life. I'm just not a paperwork person I do just fine learning things on the job but when it comes to paperwork I'm utterly hopeless. My special classes were like a grade 6 level.

I'm not that great of an artist by drawing I seem to go up and down and I need to like the thing I'm drawing to do it any good. The plushies aren't really selling but if I build a few more things and fix my creeper design I could probably get a buyer. I almost had a buyer for my Ghast but they didn't reply back instead they held a contest spending their money. I could really use a sewing machine to make the stitches more durable but I don't got the money being jobless and all. I also need to buy fleece fabric but that's a problem too.

Isn't working at the Theatre a GIANT line up of people asking for food only holding cash?

I work as a cook though I'm more sociable. However I do agree that yelling at cooks is quite common. Sometimes my managers will misplace orders that I've made, or we're busy and I ask a waitress to make a salad for me but they don't get to it. I myself personally have issues with my pride, as I don't like to ask for help very much. Like in my case today, during superbowl; I started to get swamped with tickets and somewhere along the line I lost two of my salad tickets that I gave to a waitress, my managers starts to get a little nippy and finally my salads reappear. In the end I ended up punching my palm because that's what I do at work to relieve my anger.

Only done that two or three times now because of the people I work with.

I would try to focus on that GED that EO mentioned. Minimum wage will not suffice in our world anymore, if you have to a part time job should only be keeping you afloat while you pursue education (i.e. food and necessary utility bills.) . I mean it can if you can find a sugar daddy but that is stupid to assume that you will, I sure as hell don't want my girlfriend to pay for everything for me because she's "loaded". I wouldn't feel like I earned it through my own hard work.

The part about yelling at the cook can really be applied to any job. If your manager or boss is an ass, you're likely to get yelled at. The job title doesn't really matter. I used to work in a warehouse building LED signs about 2 years ago and our boss would bitch at us all the time about how we would "stand around talking" even though we really had nothing to do. You can only clean the warehouse so much before you're just looking stupid trying to clean a spotless warehouse. He would bitch at us rather than, i don't know, get us more work. It had nothing to do with our lack of work or bad work or anything, he was just a dick that enjoyed yelling at us and constantly letting it be known we could be fired and easily replaced. Aside from the awesome amount of overtime hours we got from time to time (some weeks I worked almost 80 hours), it was the worst job I've ever had. On the other hand, the best job I've had was as a cook lol

So I wouldn't completely rule out cooking or restaurant jobs so quick. You might want to stay away from most fast food places, or simply any restaurant that is quite popular. Go for restaurants that are really only busy during weekends. The job environment in a smaller restaurant is usually very different than that of a fast food place. I used to work in a small restaurant about 6 years ago and everyone, including my boss(es), were very chill towards everyone and the only day we were really busy was on Saturdays. It was a really easy job, the main downside is that it could get really boring when it's slow lol

Sure, it might be harder to get hired in such places, but it doesn't hurt to try. You also say you don't like working around a lot of people (I don't exactly know how many people is too many people for you) but smaller restaurants usually only have a few people cooking, so that can definitely be a plus. And since you're a cook, you don't have to deal with bitchy customers, that's for the waitresses lol

You may also consider working at a laundromat, a smaller one. My mom works at a laundromat and she says it's really easy work. You may have to deal with some costumers, but if it's a place with decent machines, then that will likely mean less customers telling you the machines stole their money.

Then there are also the possibility of getting a receptionist job. Just make sure that you apply at places where you have to deal with little to no customers face to face. For example, the receptionist at that warehouse I worked at didn't have to deal with customers, she just had to answer phone calls. Same thing for the small restaurant, I was put in a receptionist position for a month while they found someone else to hire (I think it took them that long because I was doing a good job) and all I really had to do was answer phone calls and write order tickets.

Now that I remember, my mom had a job at a hotel. All she had to do was go and clean empty rooms.

This one may be a bit more far off, but maybe janitorial work? To be a bit more specific, a middle/high school janitor during the summer. So you would have to wait till summer, which is why I said it's a bit more far off. If you're still looking for work around the summertime, then it might be something to look into. Some schools hire janitors during the summer months, you won't have to deal with many people since schools are emptier during the summer. However, some schools do take priority to giving work to students.

Bottom line, wherever you decide to look, it might be better if they're smaller places rather than busier places. Suffering from social anxiety isn't a problem, you can always work around it and find places where you should feel more comfortable. So don't worry about it. You may not work at some of the most common places, but those are shit jobs anyway ;) I myself don't really like working with or around people. Although, in my case, it's just because I hate dealing with stupid people lol

Anyways, it's getting late and this post is getting long lol If this was of any help and if I think of any other ideas, I'll let you know :)

With a Grade 10 education, perhaps you should look into something like Manual Labour, such as construction or working on a factory floor that doesn't require much or in a Warehouse type job? It might be more peaceful situation

(sort of)if you aren't in a job that requires you to directly server customers, or deal with something people give to customers. I know this isn't an ideal job, but working as a late night shelf stocker in a walmart type enviorment might work too. Though you'd have to be willing to work late night shifts.

It's hard with only a Grade 10 education because unless it's manual labour you won't really be looked at.

Well I have a few jobs in mind. Domino's because I know the owner who I used to work with him at A&W and he would compliment my work all the time. But I will probably end up yelling at his workers because of the poor service they provide. The main reason I never got that job before was because it was only part-time but if I get another job with it it might make it worth it. Then there's Movies on the Go, which replaced Movie Gallery in my town when that shut down. I know someone from high school that works there, It's not my ideal work place but something tells me it might be fun. The more experience the better I guess. My brother told me they are hiring for Walmart late night but the main problem is getting there. It's like 1-2 hour walk and late night the buses wont be running. The other problem is my ex boyfriends mom works there by the day and if she notices I got hired she would do everything in her power to get me fired. I never did anything to her she just hates me because I finally dumped her retarded son after I gave him like over 20 chances. Then I had gotten a interview I turned down from Save on Foods when I got the job at Dairy Queen. It doesn't seem worth it to me but if I got nothing else I should try there again. My father's girlfriend works there too and shes a complete moron along with my dad so sits in the store waiting for her all day, so if I work there I might get fired back-talking my dad or his girlfriend. I'd probably pretend I'm not his daughter when they bothered me.

Meh. Manual Labor for Part Time, as in heavy lifting implied? Not worth it at minimum wage; you risk injury much more than a normal job where some to very minimal manual labor is required. At my pizzaria, we offer very little workers compensation for injuries on the job; because we're all employed under "Part time", the only people who are Full Time Employees are the drivers or managers.
