RikuoAmero
Well, as the title says, I either already have all of my components, they're on their way or I've just ordered them. Just before writing this article, I ordered the PSU and two graphics cards. For the sound card I was thinking of getting, I'll either take the one from my current computer or wait until later to get a new one. Hopefully, some time next week, I'll have everythingCHASSISAntec DF-85MOTHERBOARDAsus P8Z68 DeluxePROCESSORIntel Core i7 2600KLIQUID CPU COOLERCorsair H80RAM16GB (4 x 4GB DIMM) GSKill RipJaws X 1600MHzBOOT DRIVEOCZ 120GB Vertex Plus Solid State DriveINTERNAL HARD DRIVE2TB Western Digital CaviarSecondary Internal Hard Drive (taken from an external USB 2.0 drive)2TB Seagate BarracudaPOWER SUPPLYOCZ 80+Gold 1250W Fully ModularOPTICAL DRIVELG Blu-Ray Burner with LightscribeGPUZotac Geforce GTX 560 Ti AMP! † An IP BreAKDoWN
Ewww green drives lol. Be careful with those are mainly used to fill up all at one time and to be pulled out. They corrupt very easy and will serve you better if you use hardly at all. As for the water cooling be careful when you take the back plate off of the mobo, I scratched a one that I was testing it on that was an already dead mobo. The back plate was a real bitch to get off. Just be careful where your screwdriver is at all times. Make sure you apply your thermal compound correctly, and DO NOT over use it. And don't forget the antistatic wrist band. Also remember the antistatic bag that your mobo comes in is conductive so if you do an out of the chassis build to test components please build it on either the mobo box or a wooden desk. And please if this is your first build take your time and plan on taking up your whole day. My first build took 8 hours for hardware alone. Dan Den
Looks like that will be one hell of a computer you will be building there, remind me to come to you for advice when I decide to build my own machine. Just be sure to show us some images of how it looks like when your done constructing it.I just have one question, how does the liquid cooler work anyways? Cello
Wow, that's one beast of a computer. My cousin actually just built one very similar to this. His PSU fried unfortunately and had to buy a new one with a lower wattage, but it works fine. That Intel Core i7 works wonders. Is this your first build? Works the same way as air cooler but uses water instead of air, the principle is the same of course, it removes heat from the CPU and gets transferred to the water and the water cools down and keeps on going on a cycle like that. Cello
Ah ok, so I'm guessing it's better than the air cooler considering it's silent.Yeah, plus it's said to keep the CPU much cooler. It requires more maintenance as you have to fill it with distilled water/check the levels frequently, not to mention you have to really be careful doing it. You wouldn't want the water to leak on the motherboard or anything.Hell, i'm frightened at the idea of water flowing inside my $900 gaming PC. :Y
ruekk
Hell, i'm frightened at the idea of water flowing inside my $900 gaming PC. :YI'm the same way, i'm always paranoid about liquid cooling ruining a pc. thats why i always use fans. Stuy
wow rikuo that rig is gonna be a monster XD nice, very nice ^^ btw that case is awesome, i so want one > <oh and i believe that your using a KUHLER, very nice choice as unlike traditional liquid cooling systems, that self contained unit comes prefilled and requires no maintenance ^^

You wouldn't want the water to leak on the motherboard or anything.Hell, i'm frightened at the idea of water flowing inside my $900 gaming PC. :YNot my Corsair H80. It's designed such that I never need to refill it or do maintenance. It's a completely sealed unit, I just sit it on top of the CPU, install the radiator and the fans and connect the two hoses, and then that's it. At least, that's what its advertised as...btw that case is awesome, i so want one > <oh and i believe that your using a KUHLER, No, Corsair H80. Didn't even look at Kuhler (the online shops in Ireland don't sell them, at least not that I remember seeing them). As for the case, it is actually a bit crap. The three drive bays at the top are blocked by three...things...dunno what to call them, but you have to manually pull them open if you want to let your disc drive come out, they don't open automatically. The other thing I don't like about it is a bit subjective, not an objective thing that everyone can say is wrong. On the top of the case is a hot-swap bay, where I can just slide in a 2.5" SATA drive, reminiscent of slotting in a floppy disc. However, this is useless to me, as the point of such a feature is to allow you to quickly copy files onto the drive, then bring the drive over to another computer that also has a hot-swap bay. I don't have another computer like that, and neither does anyone else that I know.
→Speed←
First of all, I'm glad you reconsidered liquid cooling, trust me you'll be happier with your redesided choice! Second of all, "Secondary Internal Hard Drive (taken from an external USB 2.0 drive)2TB Seagate Barracuda" that is a 640GB hard drive xD. Third of all, water cooling will probably always be better than fan cooling(temp AND noise wise). I use fan cooling and a corsair h100 but I have a friend that bought corsair h80's and used them to cool his graphic cards(He didn't think it would work.. I didn't believe him lmao but it did). Unfortunatly I don't have a graphic card with a water heatsink so I have to use fans. Lastely, Why such a high wattage power supply? two graphic cards only require around 650-750 total.. compared to one requireing 500 watts(150-250 extra for a second.. If you don't believe me go look on newegg since I'm not commenting to start an arguement xD). My Computer is almost just like your build Except I have an 850 watt PSU, and two 60gb SSD's(Wish I would have gotten a 120gb single SSD xD), a different motherboard, and only one ATI 6970. If I were two have two graphic cards I would still use my 850 watt PSU and it would work fine even if overclocking.Edit:Even though I believe your PSU is highly overkill it looks very nice.. Gotta love fully modular PSU's xD.

Gotta love fully modular PSU's xD.That photo of the Seagate isn't mine. I googled for a while for a photo of a 2TB Barracuda, but couldn't find one. So I just took that one. Trust me, the external Seagate I have is 2TB. I presume you at the very least have the same case.As for the PSU, on the online stores where I get my stuff, it was the best one I could find. There were 800-900 ones, but none of them were real 80+Gold (checked the certification website) plus they weren't fully modular. That's one thing I desperately want, to cut down on the amount of wires I'll be using. Plus it was cheap, only €190 compared to other 1200-1500W which were in the €250+ range. AaronScythe
Ah, not a bad rig you have there. My behemoth:Case: Antec DF-85 (something we share!)Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-UD3Proccessor: Phenom II 1055th (2.8X6)Ram: 2X 1600mhz ripjaws, 1X older 1333 (yeah, keeping the other 2 underclocked I still get a minimal performance rise)CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14 (Quieter than a h100/h80 etc, they have noisy pumps, this thing's all heatsink)Video Card: XFX Radeon 6850PSU: Enermax Revo85+ 1250wHarddrives500gb barracuda1tb WD green1.5tb WD Green3X2tb WD GreenGotta say, you did a pretty decent job, but the cooler's probs not the best choice. While water coolers are supposed to be quiet, the pump alone pushes all the hydro series into the too noisy levels, and even the antec Kuhlers do not fare much better. If dead set on silent cooling, mega heatsinks are the way to go, the noctua for example has its fans on low even in the summery weather and it just works great. RikuoAmero
And I fucked up listing the SSD. I didn't get an OCZ, I got a Corsair Force SATA 3 120GB.
