J-Lord
Hey guys!! Latley I have been doing all my GFX work on Paint.net, but swapped to GIMP for its wade variety of brush styles. But whenever I try to export an image into Jpeg or Gif the image quality suffers. It goes from a good quality image to a fuzzy image which ruins the hole purpose of swapping GFX programs to do high quality GFX. Am I doing something wrong or is this how the program is?Edit:Heres a picture of both original file that was created in GIMP(bottom) and exported file, and by exported I mean saved into Jpeg format (top).I know it doesn't seem like much in this pic but its more noticable with the real thing. Jªvª
Its kinda of both, yes its how the program itself is at the same time it can be how you save it.Quality is a no brainer, but the other options can make a difference. Usually if your going for quality over compression. I deselect optimize, 1x1,1x1,1x1 SubSampling, and Floating Point under DCT. Saying all this, yeah def going to be a decently sized picture. Alot of Gimp users on windows (the ones I talk to) still utilize Adobe Photoshop for its export to web option
Hōtarō
Jpeg is a low quality file type. Save it as a png.
Jªvª
I would agree. But how gimp saves png files; they are usually memory consuming and a web hosts nightmare.
Xanodus
Jpg isn't as high of a quality as a png image. I always save my images/sigs/avatars and everythign else with a .png extension. try saving it as a png.
