Arisien
Three Days of Happiness - Sugaru Miaki How much is life truly worth? Long since disillusioned with his childhood claim to greatness, college student Kusunoki learns of a store that trades in people's time. Hearing the appraisal for his future life fraught with mediocrity, he decides to sell his remaining years for a modest sum and the hope to make his remaining time worthwhile. One of my favorite Japanese books so far, with surprising brevity considering it's depth; For a novel this short, it's impressive to be able to cover such heavy themes interspersed with pleasant moments in a overall well rounded plot. Kind of like the literary equivalent of a series that within a single cour is able to tell a better story than most which stretch on for dozens of episodes. Though that's not to say I didn't wish for a little more time spent fleshing out certain points. 100% plan on reading more of Miaki's works. Keeping it in the backlog was a mistake .
