I have 3 exams till a long summer break. I've decided to try and drastically improve my GFX skills during this time. I will post my work in this thread and so I'll greatly appreciate any tips or criticisms. I do need some help though. When I make a sig, there's a tendency where it looks as if I've stuck a render onto a background. How do I make it look more natural and less 'flat'? Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer! Btw below is one of my recent works.

Okay, in this one, there's too much "noise" in the background, if you get what I mean. The render is black and white so I'd recommend trying to change the background to accommodate a more B&W theme.

You'll have to mess around with it and see which kind of "style" suits you best because I think you've gone as far as you can with the beginner level. For example, Irish's style consists of awesome lighting effects. Trend does great pop-ups, etc.

Try finding a field that you're very good at.

I kinda like the first one, its trippy and minimalist.

The second one has a good render and nice brush work, although instead of the flat cloud/smudges in the back ground, add a cloud scene and then use the perspective tool to, well, give it some perspective. And since there isn't too much going on on the right side, I would re-size the sig until it feels full enough or perhaps even a pop-out sig. Just some Ideas

Your soul eater sig is just awesome, I dig that metal look

Well, I don't think that their should be a fixed style, but yeah, when you are learning, you should follow a straight path, other than that, the second sig is utterly simple, I can see that you have used floral brushes, but there is no blending done, thats the area you need to improve first, and also, it is not necessary to keep the whole or most of the render in the sig ^_^ .

About first one, I don't know, never tried such sigs @_@
