Nero D. Ace
I just read something today and i can't believe i've never known about it for so long, but is it true that when Final Fantasy II came out, it WASN'T ported to the United States and that when Final Fantasy IV came out, it was released in N.A. as FF-II?Same goes for FF-VI being released as FF-III?Why didn't they dub each game? Also, wasn't it confusing for guys when FF-VII came out on the PS one?
ragnawind
i've know about that for years. They just didn't localize the original FF2+3 for the NES in America. I think it was due to budgeting, or licensing issues, but they did finally release them in the US with 2 on the PSC and 3 on the DS. Since Final Fantasy 4 was the first game to be localized after the fist game, they just labeled it 2 on the SNES, so as to not cause a gap in the numbered games released in America. Same for 6. They didn't really continue following this rule, when they reached the 7th game, since people started to realize the numbering of the games in Japan, so they started releasing them with the proper numer from Japan and later went back to bring the other games to America. Koby
Fucking hell, it ate my message. Gonna have to type it all over again.Yes, originally FF2 and FF3 was not released here. So they renamed FF4 to FF2. Then FF5 was not released either so they renamed FF6 to FF3. Later when the series gained fandom they corrected the names and released the other missing titles. It confused fans for a long time because suddenly their favorite games 'FF2 & FF3' were renamed to 'FF4 and FF6' and the titles of FF2 & FF3 belong to totally different games they never even played before.
