Question: Does anybody know what Final Fantasy is about , like is each game somehow connected? espicially games that contain a character called Cid? i dont know if this is true but me and my mate have this theory about Cid, because you see a Cid charcter in alot of the ff games we think that final fantasy is in fact the dreams of "cid" ? :canny:

let me know what you think!...........................or not!

No it's not that, just a character named Cid is an ample theme of Final Fantasy just as Chocobos are. Though both weren't in the original if I remember correctly, it wasn't till later they became part of the series. It's just something added to make Final Fantasy, well um Final Fantasy.

Cid plays a rather major role in DIssidia. he's the one who's narrating all the stuff and he oversees the batlle of discord and harmony to study more about chaos with the Dragon Shinryu.

he's also the adoptive father of Garland.

Which Cid is in Dissida? I assume FF7's since he seems to be the main Cid everyone thinks of.

im talking about Cid of the Lufaine, the original creator of the Airship in Final Fantasy ONE.

he along with his wife CREATED Garland to do research on discord and harmony, but the army used him as a weapon and as a result, the trio had to escape in which Cid's wife was killed. they escaped when Garland created the Rift and while Garland was able to reach Cornelia, Cid was trapped inside there.

there, he met the dragon-god Shinryu with whom he made a deal to continue his research. Cosmos and Chaos would fight battles and everytime a god was slain, Shinryu would bring him/her back to life and the cycle of battle would continue.

this continued till the 13th cycle which was the game of Dissidia, after which it seems the battle has ended for good.

the new Dissidia 012 is a prequel and is set in the 12th cycle, during which Sephiroth took his own life, hence why he was able to keep his memory of past battles.

You know thats probably why they named cid as the narrator for dissida. He is in practically every final fantasy and it would be funny as hell if square enix came out and said "It's all the one cid. He uses dimesional portals to mess around with other peoples worlds"

You may have been able to play with Cid in your party briefly in FFIV, but FFVII was the first in the series to offer him as a permanent character in your party roster.

Ummmmm ... wut? :confuse:

In case you haven't played the game, FF-IV also offers him as a permanent character at certain times. Unless the storyline changes in such a way that he has to disappear for a while, you could pretty much do all side-quests with him, so i think that makes him a "permanent" character.

I have played the game, Indy, and I can see where you are coming from. You are correct, FFIV does offer Cid as a playable character at "certain times" (sure you could extend his play time through side quests and what not), but does that make him permanent? That is the real question here, and no, he is not a "permanent" character. Could Cid be part of your final party roster in the game? No, he could not.

The way FF4 handled characters you couldn't really say any of them were 'permanent' if you looked it at that way. The party was constantly being lost, separated, reformed with a few different characters etc..
