All tits aside...First impression...F**k yea... And for about 20 minutes, that was my life...I just kept saying F**k yes. But then, I was blind sided by an unmarked white van which called itself social awkwardness/short term memory loss. I was lost in a world where no character could finish a sentence because it was "too much to bear." And after their, their being any possible character from the anime, horrific incident of speaking out loud, they were instantly hit with short term memory loss...This was my life for about 3 hours...I was really starting to get sick of the soft voices and googlie eyes at this point...BUT THEN A Swift moment of greatness. The anime redeamed itself with 3 simple lines which EVERYBODY needs to watch again. You may not have caught it your first watch through, so, I will tell u EXACTLY where to look.Elfen Lied - Ep. 11 - 21:18 to 21:25Yep, these 7 short seconds are about all I cared about after watching this anime. The story was fantastic, don't get me wrong, but I really think the social awkwardness, memory loss, unrealistic characters, and googlie eyes really killed this anime. GOOGLIE EYES ARE OK...but not today...and not in this anime.I will still take suggestions from you guys, you seem like a good group. But for my first suggestion after joining these forums, and yes I know this one sentence is a bit out of place so far from its home in the suggestion thread, is to NOT suggest any other part of this anime other than the 7 second clip listed above...NOW, I'm Coming, I'm Coming, I'm Coming back to reality...No tits aside, this anime has a lot of freaking tits. So if you are siting alone and just wanna see some tits AND DON'T WANT TO WATCH PRON, then sure give this anime a go lol. If you made it this far in my post AND caught my not so subtle reference, then congratulation, you probably aren't yelling through your computer screen at me for trashing a highly suggested anime. I am just giving my opinions Thank you for keeping an open mind, and, DON'T FORGET to watch that clip mentioned above, its freaking hysterical.Hope I didn't offend anybody...seriously...*Braces for impact*---edit---Has a good ending... Of course when I recommend this series to someone, it's with the knowledge that it'll probably traumatize them, but then I'm a generally evil bastard and that knowledge amuses me. But then if someone asks for a horror anime and/or something bloody and violent, then Elfen Lied definately fits that description. And yes, it's generally the large amount of nudity combined with the graphic violence that tends to bother the vast majority of people who watch this, with the huge mood swings being a close second, but then that's the point - it's supposed to bother you. It is a horror, after all. As such, I don't really consider it pr0n, since it isn't something that I could really jack off to - blood and guts kind of spoil the mood for me. Most are a lot tamer than Elfen Lied in that department. Only others that come to mind are When they Cry Higurashi and the like, but then that doesn't have any nudity that I remember.It's generally the large amount of nudity combined with the graphic violence that tends to bother the vast majority of people who watch this, with the huge mood swings being a close second, but then that's the point - it's supposed to bother you. In the end I know it's just something that is either drawn or acted and so I haven't ever found anything that scared me within any movie or anime and never found anything that seemed to bother me. Maybe I'm just a cold-hearted bastard with no emotions, nah that can't be it. Anyways I didn't find anything in Elfen Lied that 'bothered' me and I honestly believe the nudity while it did not distract me, added to the overall series. LOL I really wasn't disturbed by it oddly enough. The only thing that did bother me was the "uh never mind" moments. Talk about huge breaks in conversation. The social awkwardness coupled with the blood and violence not bothering me are probably what led me to see this anime as more of half a hentai...Having a night of sleep and an objective outlook allows me to see your point though...this anime is pretty freaking violent and bloody and could disturb some people. It also goes further in the whole Innocence and redemption subplot, where she starts to hate herself for killing so many people.And then theres the love story side. While a normal anime would just fanservice this away, it has him as the "I'm willing to be dismembered in a painful manner" determination guy chasing after her (rather than the standard squashed like a bug in 1 second).I feel sorry if you didnt pick up on the subtext of elfen lied, especially when even the most docile moments stand the point of "Sometimes things can be normal, but it wont last"And it does not last.More bloodshed, more nightmares, more humanity trying to squash yet another thing they are afraid of.And in the end, she disappears, probably best she does to protect him.Then someone else stops by, but they never know who.. I hated the long drawed out love story, the un-needed characters, and pretty much random events.
