easy PS3 Platinums guide (work in progress!)

As everyone who has ever strived to earn at least 1 platinum trophy knows, it can be a royal pain in the backside.

However, courtesy of a mixture of experiance and friends, I've been able to determin some of the easiest PS3 games created to Platinum, helping you on your way.

I've put spoiler tags around after the numbers of trophies and playthroughs as some games contain a few personal hints and tips, so don't open unless your interest.

1. Terminator Salvation

Number of Trophies - 12

Bronze Trophies - 0

Silver Trophies - 0

Gold Trophies - 11

Platinum Trophies -1

Number of playthroughs - 1

Yes ladies and gentlemen, you did read that correctly. 12 trophies in all, 11 of them Gold and all of them earnable in a single playthrough! This is a game that many people have been able to knock out with less than 8 hours of gameplay. Just rack the difficulty up to hard and playthrough to the simplest Platinum I've ever seen!

2. Dynasty Warriors 6 - Empires

Number of Trophies - 51

Bronze Trophies - 43

Silver Trophies - 5

Gold Trophies - 2

Platinum Trophies - 1

Number of Playthroughs - 5 Scenarios, plus single battles to get remianing bronze trophies that may not have been unlocked already.

Now first off, don't let the large number of trophies fool you into thinking this isn't going to be easy. It'll mainly be time consuming, but not hard, rather far from it. All it requires is a little patience, and a huge love of hacking and slashing foes.

42 of the bronze trophies are earnt by completing a battle as a selected Mosou Character (Cao Cao, Lu Bu etc). The last is earnt by completing a battle as a custom character. Odds are you'll knock most of these out during the 5 scenarios, so don't worry about doing this before you start going for them. you'll just be wasting time.

The 5 silver trophies are unlocked by completing a scenario, no matter the difficulty. Easy enough

The 2 gold trophies are also fairly easy. One is earnt by completing all 5 scenarios. The other is a little more annoying, but again odds are you'll do this without even realising it. It requires you to get all bonus content. (see the games archieve section on the main menu)

By the time you've completed all 5 scenarios, odds are, you'll have done enough of the 'Objectives' to unlock everything and get this trophy. If not, have a look at what still needs to be done and see which will be easier.

Again, a relatively simple Platinum that can probably be earnt with under 30 hours of gameplay.

3. Red Alert 3

Number of Trophies - 51

Bronze Trophies - 39

Silver Trophies - 9

Gold Trophies - 2

Platinum Trophies - 1

Number of Playthroughs - 3 campaigns played through up to 4 times, (can be reduced to 1 (see inside spoiler)), plus online ranked / offline skirmishes to get the rest

Campagin based trophies:

Okay, now there are several ways to go about this. The first is to play through first on easy, completing all bonus objectives, then cranking the difficulty up a notch or two and doing it again (either offline, or online)

Alternatively, you can try and get this all done at once by hitting the difficulty up to hard and finding someone to co-op the whole lot right the way through, including all bonus objectives.

If you struggle to find someone for this, then I'm willing to help out.

However, I will state that when it comes to the hard mode, the AI is as good as (if not somewhat better) than a human counter part. Thats becuase its skill also increases with difficulty too (hey, never say this games completely unfair)

Either way, you'll need to have done the following to earn all the campagin trophies:

1. Complete all bonus objectives for <faction name>

2. Complete all campaigns on medium or hard

3. Complete all campaigns on hard

4. Complete all campaign missions online (27 in all)

Now, for the other trophies. Some have a certain requirement, such as difficulty and are a pain to earn offline, so a partner is recommended to speed things up. (again, willing to help here too) However, some MUST be done offline. If you have trouble with any of these, youtube is your best bet, as there are many useful videos for dealing with these pesky trophies.

4. Need for Speed: Shift

Number of Trophies: 30

Bronze Trophies:12

Silver Trophies:12

Gold Trophies:5

Platinum Trohpies: 1

Number of Playthroughs Needed: 1

This is a game that can be platinumed in under 30 hours. Of course, this does assume you're skilled at Racing games.

As you progress through the career and raise your Driver Level, you'll probably find you'll unlock a ton of bronze and silver badges. These badges are the games achievements, and are vital if you wish to earn the Platinum. You'll get badges for various things, from a clean race, i.e. no crashes, no going off track, to trading paint a certain number of times.

Some of the Trophies you'll gradually unlock are related to your Driving Level.

Level 02 = Driving Rookie, Bronze Trophy

Level 05 = Driving Amature, Bronze Trophy

Level 10 = Driving Semi-pro, Bronze Trophy

Level 20 = Driving Pro, Silver Trophy

Level 30 = Driving Veteran, Silver trophy

Level 40 = Driving Hero, Silver Trophy

Level 50 = Driving Legend, Gold Trophy

In order to reach Driving Level 50, you'll need to earn 500,000 Driver points. Not an easy task. This will likely be the last trophy you earn.

In order to get all the badge requirements, you'll need to earn at least 20 'Epic Badges'. This will sound daunting to some, however, there is a way to earn quite a few badges, raise your driver level, and earn a nice amount of cash before you even enter the first Tier 1 race (not including the tutorial stage).

The badges that will be covered here are:

Difficulty (1 epic badge available)

Clean Race (3 epic badges available)

Corner Mastering (3 epic badges available)

Perfect Launch (1 epic badge available)

This will also help towards the Driving Legend Trophy, 1 or more of the Manufacturer Loyalty Epic Badge (depends on the cars manufacturer), and several other trophies!

After completing the tutorial race, you'll be asked to purchase your first car. The cars on offer are not great, but some have real potential. I'd suggest the Mazda RX-8 to start with. Use what money you have left to upgrade the handling and breaks. If you want to change the cars paint job and give it a little fine tuning, do so, however the tuning is not necessary. Do not worry too much about speed at the moment. This is not going to be your main aim yet.

When done, return to the main menu and set the AI difficulty to HARD. Head back to the main menu and select 'Quick Race'. Now comes the easy bit. Set the number of laps to 1, and the number of opponents to 0. begin the Race, and use this lap to familiarize yourself with its layout. If you can master any corners here, do so.

Once you've earnt the Clean Race badge for a track, return to the quick race menu, keep the difficulty on hard, and increase the number of laps to however many you feel you'll need (20 max). Now, race around the track and try and master all the corners you missed on your 1 lap run. As you do so, you'll gradually be earning points towards your Driver Level. Once all corners have been mastered, complete the race (DO NOT QUIT!).

Rince and repeat for all tracks, and you will have earnt well over $80,000, probably finish with a Driver Level ranging from 20-25, and earnt between 7 and 9 epic badges!

Then, proceed through the career as you normally would. Remember to set the difficulty back down to easy first!

If, by the end of the career, you find yourself still short on the driver level and several epic badges. Select your best track, with the difficulty on easy, and a max of Ai's, then just do what you need to do to get the remaining epic badges.

A good track is Nordschleife. Being a very long track, setting it to 20 laps and 8 opponents can net you a whopping 160,000+ driver level points! (I average around 8,000 without any opponents per lap). However, it is important to note that you'll need a car that has a good top speed, and very good handling. The main bulk of your points will likely come from Mastering the corners (37 in all, most can be taken at full speed) and keeping to the racing line.

I'll be adding to this list later. If anyone knows of an easy platinum that has not been listed, either PM me about it, or post it below (with spoiler tags!) and I'll add it to this list :)
