Dave55811
Funny, because I was shown a trailer of this yesterday. Right now, one thing that comes to mind is how I think about people (usually those on pReddit) who say "Is it okay to start at this game?!" when asking about which Kiseki game to start on.....well, I guess, if they don't want to deal with antiquated graphics, this upcoming Trails FC remake might just be it. If people want to start the Kiseki series, they need to start from the beginning. I think this remake will finally set them up. Me, personally? I'm content with what I experienced of Trails FC, and so, this will be a hard pass. I'm happy I was able to complete the OG TitS games, too, because I anticipate that there will be some kind of elitism at play in the foreseeable future.....or, I could just be projecting. It'd be fun; I won't lie. "I can finally start the Trails games with this one! Yay!" and then I'll say "So? I played Trails FC in its original form." There won't be as much discussion of that in the future, I presume. It's been a tired question for years at this point. The obvious answer is that you start at the beginning. If the current news is correct & this game uses a 1:1 copy of Xseed's translation (thus, the story stays the exactly the same aside from being presented in a new visual style) then the answer is easy for newbies, Zoomers & tourists: play the remake. The only argument will be purist boomers still pushing the original for the sake of gatekeeping, which I can respect because Lord knows I've been guilty of that behavior.....but if the story truly is the same then there's no tangible benefit to the older version anymore. The remake will be the obvious choice for new players, but we'll need to be ready for the influx of gamers from a younger generation getting involved for better or worse. I'll probably do that too, just to mess with folks a bit. At the end of the day I'll just be glad they're supporting the series, though. Besides, the TRUE fake fans are people who don't play both the original and remake.
Koby
The main thing about the originals for many people is that they're not on modern consoles. It pretty much requires people to temporarily be a pc gamer even if they don't want to if they want to experience the series and a lot of gamers have some huge dislike of pc gaming for various reasons that I mostly do not understand. Too true. The remakes will open the door to the normie console crowd who were never going to set up the originals on PC. They're ~20 years old, no holdouts were going to give in anymore. Hopefully the remakes release on PC & console so everyone can just play where they want. The game looks like it won't pull too many resources, hopefully it runs well on anything so everyone can have their way. (Flash forward to it chugging at 7 FPS on Switch)
Spoony
I guess I'll be buying the Remake on Switch though I'd certainly prefer a PC version if it were to be made. I've read they don't currently have plans to do SC unless FC sells well. However the wording used by Kondo suggests they'll keep doing Remakes as long as the previous does well, which has people clamoring for a potential Crossbell remake as well.
