Playing videos on 360 or Wii...

Okay, I've been trying for days to get these stupid videos to play on either my 360 offline, or on my Wii. Neither of which seem to be working. I've tried converting the files to a Wii format - fail. Also tried a variety of 360 options, also failed unless I'm connected to the internet.

Wii: When I change the format into a mjpeg it not only gets HUGE, it gets really poor quality. Not to mention, none of the files I've converted using the Videora Converter have worked on the Wii.

Xbox 360: I have to be online for any file to be played because the xbox update doesn't stick around offline.

Are there any ways around this? :( *sad pants*

The format needed for the Wii to play is just ridiculous to the point it isn't worth it. Turns a HQ 170 MB file into nearly 1 GB and low quality.

As for the 360, you gotta install updates from online onto it for it to play any of the file formats we tried on my sister's 360.

Her PS3 however played xvid.avi, and h264.mp4 right out of the box with no updates needed. It will however not play h264.avi, or any mkv and shit.

But hey, it's really just more simple to hook a PC up to your TV and then you can play ANY file your PC is capable of. That's what I do, and most TV's now days have PC hook-ups.

Yeah, I'm trying to hook my brothers up at my mom's place next door. They don't have internet right now so it's been tough to try and watch anything we download over there. Their computer also died recently, making the internet issue moot I suppose.

I may have found a spare computer tower though, so I'm going to try and hook it up and throw in the wireless dongle. Here's to hoping this afternoon!
