StaticX
I was just wondering if I should use this Method I've started encoding AoT and I'm using High 4:4:4 Predictive Level 5.0 which makes it look really nice since it has more colorspace I'm guessing, especially at the Beginning where Eren is looking at the Titan. Would people be put off if I use that method? Because I know alot of Encoders typically use High-10 Bit, but the way I encode it seems to be lossless because I can see no difference between the Encode and the Original Source (Bluray) Just want your opinions
Baal
... I'm using High 4:4:4 Predictive Level 5.0 which ...I know alot of Encoders typically use High-10 Bit, .. These are two different things. 4:4:4 refers to what chroma subsampling is used. 10Bit refers to bit-depth. I won't tell you to not use 4:4:4 but remember that the blu-ray you encoded it from is 4:2:0 and probably master source for it is stored in 4:2:2, it will also need more power to decode. Color information is already lost on the blu-ray so its like converting lossy AC3 to lossless FLAC. Edited September 4, 2014 by Baal
JohnFlower
One would normally use High 4:4:4 for 720p anime that has been downscaled using the correct filters. The aim is to get a transparent 720p encode. If you're interested in compressing your shit, don't bother with High 4:4:4, just use regular 10 or even 8bit.
