Check the connection on your DVD drive, but more importantly, the blue screens. That sounds a bit like a memory problem, but it's hard to be sure. Try running http://www.memtest.org/ on your computer for several hours (over night is nice) and see if your memory's giving you problems.

It could also be a virus ^^; Get MalwareBytes, AVG, or whatever your favorite anti-malware program is and give your computer a scan. Even if you have security software already on your computer, just get a second one and do a full scan to see if it catches anything your current security didn't get.

iirc all of the OCZ firmware updates are destructive with your data, you should see if it needs an update though since that will more than likely increase your speed, if not also fix your issue.

i remember using one of the older firmware updaters, and that didn't destroy my data.

now their new firmware updater requires that you be connected to the internet. i suppose it makes updating to the right firmware easier, but some wireless dongles/cards are not supported... had to lug my pc to my router and hook it up just to update the firmware. cant tell if it destroyed my data though. i reinstalled windows straight after.

check this page out: http://www.ocztechnology.com/ssd_tools/ (you need the "OCZ Toolbox" for your drive)

read the warnings. no guarantee you will keep your data, and i cant say for sure this will even fix your problems... but it's worth a shot. just backup any important data you had on the ssd and away you go.

the new way of updating is like using a stripped down OS, so it is pretty easy to figure out.
