Far Cry 3

Hey guys and gals, this is a nice little topic to discuss this amazing game, wether it be gameplay, tactics, your thoughts on the game or just saying how much you love using the flamethrower lol.

The song from the burning weed mission haha, forget it's name, good song but

My thoughts on the game so far are that it's definitely one of the best fps games I've played in a while, I was a bit sceptical when picking up the game only because I was afraid it would disappoint me after having played Far Cry 2 a lot. I was happily not disappointed at all, sure the game has a few issues which I'll bring up in a moment but for the most part it's awesome.

It's AI is done quite well and they certainly aren't as stupid as Far Cry 2's AI who I remember often running up right beside them or they'd walk right by me and I wasn't even hiding lol. The addition of animals that actually react to the player properly made the game a lot more challenging, it's hard enough to sneak into a compound to shut off an alarm but even harder when I have to worry about a tiger or leopard attacking me from behind while hiding in the trees.

The amount of weapons in the game was certainly pleasing and the attatchments for most of them were pretty good, certainly helpful. The map editor for this game is also quite good just like in the previous game, feels slightly easier to use which is good.

My issues so far are:

1. The grenade launcher has a reload issue when empty, he pushes up the pump part of the weapon and you can see a grenade it in when it's suppose to empty and he's just pumped out the last round, so that needs fixing.

2. Sometimes the AI's sight radius plays up and they can see you when you're practically right behind them, sometimes it's a noise factor but this one still happens to me too.

3. The players health reacts differently when getting attacked by other people and animals, with people it goes down gradually and with animals it goes down almost instantly if they manage to attack you, for an animal you need an instant heal but from several gunshots I'm fine...It's a bit unrealistic, both would be highly damaging on the body and you can't argue that maybe the bullets just nick the player because there's no way that happens every single time.

4. The silenced weapons in the game work quite well, however when using a bow the AI seems to be able to hear when you drop someone from range and they instantly go alert but when using a sniper rifle they don't hear that somehow...It makes no sense to me, they should react to both the same way.

That's my issues so far with the game, oh and sometimes the map stuffs up when trying to select places to fast travel, other then that's its an awesome game and go ahead and give some feedback on your gameplay, issues with the game etc. =)

wishing to get this game from my friend. and everything even the best of games have flaws

I agree with that, I'm just glad the flaws are only small.

Another flaw I've noticed in it is that with auto aim on the bow often aims for either the targets crotch or beside them, it's never spot on. I don't often use the auto aim feaure but still it'd be nice if it actually locked on like it should.

Just got this yesterday...loving it so far, I mean what other games lets you punch a shark in the face lool?

Heads up to anyone interested in buying it...Toy R Us is currently running a deal on video games, if you buy two copies of selected games you get $50 off. I went and got two copies of Far Cry 3 for a grand total of $74 (essentially 37$ a cop, what a steal for a great game!).

That is why I disabled auto-aim. In most games, I find myself disabling the auto-aim anyway because I always aim for the head before pressing the "aim" button and the games makes me aim for their chests which is way less effective.

I haven't played a lot of the game yet, though. I just did some of the first missions and cleared a few of outpost, but I can see that the game is good. Also, I did all of the coop missions with a friend before starting my singleplayer game.

I too usually turn auto aim off as like you said the chest is not a very effective place to hit, however with certain weapons it's usually instant kill no matter where you hit them. I haven't gotten a chance to play any of the co op missions yet myself. I look forward to playing them though and I may go online soon and give that a go-

I'll admit it was much better than i expected it to be. some parts are super lame, i felt embarressed to play during sometimes, such as the weed burning mission you mentioned or those "edgy" alice in wonderland quotes not to mention the face palm characters. Also i thought i was going to go the whole game without killing a single white person. and dubstep, seriously?

I must admit. This game was probably my game of the year...from what I've played. It had issues, sure, as any game that big would have. But the mix of zany moments with the altogether serious ones was top notch. The character development was good too, although I was very pissed off at the anticlimatic boss scenes with Vaas, Buck and Hoyt. Fucking quick time events Ubisoft? Really? Bah.

My favourite thing to do though is using the wing suit to rock up on a an unsuspecting stronghold, air assassinate the first guard I see while doing so then c4-ing the shit out of everything nearby...bliss.

I will probably pick this up soon. Its quite cheap now as it fails to have the words 'halo/call/battlefield/fifa/infinite' in the title.

Although, I don't have overly fond memories of farcry 2. It was all: checkpoint, get chased down, shot at, shoot back, get out, fix car, drive off, through another checkpoint, get chased down-you get the idea:)

I can honestly say that when I played far cry 3 I didn't see all that many similarities between the two games, at least not gameplay wise anyway. Checkpoints have been removed but there is still a lot of combat, good story though too.
