The first 2 Max payne games..they did so many things right. Metro 2033, it has it's flaws, but I still consider it one of the most immersive and best looking games for the pc. Stalker Clear Skies and call of Pripyat...dat immersion. Torchlight..fills the void diablo once filled before diablo 3 and of course Fallout new vegas..I put way too much time into this game, just when I start to lose interest the world..there's another mod to make it fun again.

Unreal Tournament 2004. The dang thing still gets installed and played.

The mobility, the lethality of the weapons, the fact that skill plays a BIG deal in how effective a player is...

Oh and not to mention the sheer variety of game play to be had with mods, custom maps, and total conversions!

The runner up would be Disgaea 2 though for favorite game ever. Even though its PS2 and not PC... though my laptop can play my disc of it just fine these days.

Call of Duty on pc is epic! I have a console and a pc and event though the console is pretty cool, I think sometimes it takes more skill to master a game on pc, and COD being an FPS takes a heck of a lot of skill with the mouse. So I feel prouder after playing the game. Other games I enjoy is Diablo II which is simply an awesome game if you're into rpg

My favourite game for the PC has got to be Sid Meier's Civilization IV,

I still play it to this day, it is quite engrossing;

but perhaps I have spent too much of my life at it.

Still, I don't seem too interested in anything else at the moment, anyways my laptop can't handle anything more modern, anyhow.

Other PC games I remember as being very good in their day was Red Alert 2 & Worms Armageddon, 'twas fun.

I've gone through many phases of loving various games for PC. Most of the PC games I've owned have come through steam, however a lot of the early ones were either disk or old games on the internet. I'm gonna throw back all the way to the beginning of my computer use back in like... 2000ish I believe.

The first game I remember liking was

. Of course it never did teach me how to type, but it was fun anyway.

After that I remember liking the various shockwave games that were on Carton Network's website. Especially the summer resort ones and that one courage the cowardly dog one ^^. (note: OH SNAP CN STILL HAS THEM!!!!!! *plays for several minutes due to nostalgia overload*)

The first "real" computer game I got into was Halo Trial with my friends. I can remember calling each other up with wonder-phone (or whatever it was called that allowed you to do 3 way calls) and just talking for hours at a time while playing the game. My computer was so crappy back then that it couldn't even render player's armor color so I had to rely on the green arrow above people's head to figure out if they were friendly or not. Since multiplayer was hosted in the server master's computer (not on a central server) there was always a lot of lag for anyone who wasn't the host, but despite the HUGE lag and my crappy computer (not the mention ancient mouse and keyboard), I was absolutely god-like on that game after a while ^^. I remember being skilled enough that as long as I stood still with a sniper, I could headshot anything that had a head in 1 shot ^^. Warthog drivers, ghost drivers (with the mods), people running in zig-zags, etc. I never did get quite that good in any modern FPS games though ^^;

After that came MapleStory... I spent the better part of 4-5 years playing that game. For those of you who have played it, I started that game pretty soon after Ludi/Orbis came into being. There were only 4 classes and 3 job advancements (stopped after 3rd job). Back then the economy wasn't completely broken, and damage whoring/statless builds weren't all that big yet ^^. It was an amazingly fun game for the first year or so, but as my friends dropped out and the game became more and more corrupt, I started to become disillusioned with it. However, by the time I quit I had a level 155 Bishop on my account :P.

It's right here that steam came into existence, and I found out that I could actually get games that weren't $60. Before, pretty much every game I played on PC became a favorite just because I didn't have much to compare to :P. Suddenly, I had access to hundreds of cheap games, and I could be as picky as I wanted to be about what I liked :D. Instead of going through my entire steam game history which would take forever, I'll just list my current favorite steam games in order of when I got them:

1) Recettear

2) Costume Quest

3) Bastion

4) Amnesia The Dark Descent

5) To the Moon

Probably the only game that requires explaination is To the Moon (which I don't expect most people have heard of). I actually hadn't heard of this game until about 3 or so weeks ago either. It was one of the flash sale items, and basically the cover-art caught my eye :P. The game's pretty much a non-Japanese visual novel (the creators are actually from Canada). Lux Pain for DS is the only other visual novel I've played, and that came from Japan :P. It's got an unquestionably dazzling story and great music, but that's pretty much all it has. Luckily, the game is quite short so it can easily stand on just those 2 aspects and shine like no other game I've played. I would recommend it to just about anyone due to the short time commitment it has and how cheap it is :P.

My current favorite is Minecraft. You can walk away from it for a while and pretend that what was there is over, but eventually you will once again succumb to its call. I also like Sims Makin' Magic, Civ V, Puzzle Pirates, and Baldur's Gate. Also, kudos to the guy who said Runescape, it ruined mmo's for me because none could ever quite match up.
