Windows 7, switch user question

Hey guys,

I've been wondering about this for awhile now and never really took the time to see if this worked. I checked Google but it keeps coming up with the opposite of what i'm looking for.

I'm currently converting about 30~ some episodes into a different file format and it's going to take quite some time. Say somebody else wanted to hop onto the computer and switch to their user account while mine is logged in converting videos. So long as they didn't log out of my user account and just chose the option to switch users, would the program that's converting these files still run?

Thanks.

Yup, it works! Downloads queued in a download management program seem to slow down but I image that's due to others using the internet. But the conversions continued just fine. I left the computer while it converted about 22 episodes.

I just had to make sure that the account was never logged out or the computer never went to sleep/hibernated.

Having multiple profiles logged in at the same time will allow all the applications running continuing to run. The down side is RAM usage increased. So, you'll notice more HDD activity unless you have enough RAM. To see if you have enough RAM to handle multiple profiles, run "Resource Monitor" and check the RAM usage. You can then decide whether to add more RAM or not.
