Ehhh i personally think there are trend differences in terms of plotlines and stuff. I'm not a heavy anime watcher more like the occasional. However, when I find an anime that i really like, i fall hard. Anyways, the animes these days are reflecting the same kind of trend that we see in movies. The script is boring but i guess the action scenes make up for it. Also there seems to be a lack of originality because stories seem to follow the formulas of animes that are successful... oh wait, that wouldn't be a difference, now would it?

This is absolutely untrue. Although some follow the tried and tested random violence or the high school romance, there are just as many that have original ideas for animes. Look at Steins;Gate and Durarara. Both are recent animes but are also highly popular and completely different from most other animes.

The real difference between old and modern animes are the amount of CG. New animes are mostly CG, but old animes were mainly hand-drawn. So although everything looks cleaner now, it also gets rid of the uniqueness of some of the hand-drawn characters.

Muaa ha ha ha ha(evil laughter) this ones for me..... I have been watching anime for two decades so listen well you whipper snappers i'm going to give you a history lesson. I'll start in from 1998 and 2002. At this time there was a boom in anime in Japan and abroad. Thats when shows like poke'mon and the like became popular abroad. During this boom a lot of money was placed in searching out new techniques in animation for two reasons. One the industry had become white washed, to much to quickly made it harder for those creators to come up with original material. The other reason was when more anime was introduced to foreign countries producers and the like noticed that production values aided sales so why not. As far as I can see it every thing was alright in the anime universe for a while. Nothing extreme happened. How ever in 05 Japans economy officially tried to kick the bucket. Most of Japans economy was based on disposable spending of its citizens. People buying animes, mangas and toys. When this dwindled it really did some damage. As far as I know two major things happend. One producers, mangaka, and animators desperate to regain sales sold out to the otaku b crowd. Inventing moe'. The other thing was that it gave the xenophobic types (those that dislike or fear any thing foreign) to gain some political leverage. The export and import tax for most low level goods including media like anime was raised. All of a sudden countries like the U.S.A see a huge drop in how much anime reaches its shores. I think only recently has there been another change in style witch was long do. Otaku b style or moe' is slowly declining as quality has become an issue. Other wise I haven't seen a huge leap in quality since 02.
