Help With Computer Start Up Issue

Well every time I turn on my computer it appears with a blank screen, I first thought that it was in sleep or hibernate mode, but when I click the power button it turns off again. Then when I turn it on again the blank screen appears again so I kept my finger on the power button for a full shut down which works because when I turn it on again my laptop starts up properly, asking me whether I want to put it in safe mode.

This has happened twice in a row so far and although it's manageable at the moment I think it's better to find out what's going on instead of just ignoring it.

So can anyone tell me what's going on with my laptop and if there's a solution for it?

Ask if anymore information is needed and thank you to anyone that helps =).

Check all your drivers are up to date. Run ccleaner to check your startup, registry and temp folders, etc. Do a defrag and an error check and if necessary run it through a windows repair session, oh and make sure you haven't overfilled your drive. That usually sorts out most issues.

Thanks I'll try these.

What color is LED on your monitor? Is it orange or some other color?

It's pale blue, it's usual colour, but it starts to flash to indicate that it is in sleep mode for some reason.

I don't think there is really any concern, I get this sometimes with my laptop and computer. Sometimes it because I have usb stuff plugged in and my posting screen hangs on black for about 20 seconds.

Yeah I thought it was just loading slow at first but it stays on the blank screen forever until I turn it off.

i would do as the others say, drivers, backups... never hurts... if it keeps up or gets worst, you might wanna think about checking the standard 40-pin connector... which usually sits right under your keyboard, dont try it unless you have taken a laptop apart before, take it to some PC shoppe and if anything goes wrong its on them and not you. sometimes in a HP laptop that 40-pin cable comes loose, and reseating it does the trick. FYI if you take it to best buy they will send it out for fixing and can take 6 weeks, a lession my sister found out rather then asking me for help.

With a laptop, that's possibly an external display issue (emphasis on possibly). Basically your laptop is putting video out only to the external display port for whatever reason. Try pressing the display switch key combo (usually fn+f8). If this fails then take the more complicated troubleshooting measures mentioned above.

Always start with the easiest thing first ;).
