Association of Surrounding With Anime

I was justing thinking whether when watching anime if the things around you contribute to your memory of that certain anime.

For example while I was watching Eureka Seven my mum had these really over powering smelling stones or marbles that smelt of lavender I think, it took me about a week to finish the series and for every episode the stones were present in the room.

It's been about 3 weeks since I finished the anime and I had also forgotten about the smelling marbles, since they had been moved and the smell had vanished, but just now I walked into a room with them in and smelt that familiar smell then without thinking about it at all my mind had gone back to the memory of me watching Eureka Seven, instead of thinking about lavender or whatever I would have expected my mind to have thought of as soon it recognized the smell again.

My question is while you watch an anime do you associate those things that caught your attention with that anime later on when you sense them again? Share the anime and experience you have had if this is true for you.

Well, whenever I do certain types of dumb dances, i think of Zatch Bell. Ummmm, also when I eat chips labeled POTATO CHIPS and I read the title, then I think of Death Note. Nothing really special or unique. And if I try to come up with a quote for anything, I always think of a certain one from Desert Punk

I associate most shows to their soundtrack. If a particular piece of music was memorable, a few years down the road I would suddenly remember the anime upon hearing the song.

For example, there was this show that I've never watched before, but sometimes when I switch on the tv, the ending song would be playing. It sounds pretty cool and catchy so I sort of remembered it. Then years later, I was watching a clip on youtube and this song was used as the music. And then I would remember this show that I had never watched before from years ago.
