RikuoAmero
Hey guys,Boy, it seems you can never do enough research. Just looking at what is the best CPU cooler for my setup. To remind you guys, I'm using the Antec Darkfleet DF-85 case, Asus P8Z68 Deluxe Motherboard and Intel Core i7 2600K (I may go for a 2700K, just noticed that they well existed). Well, since this is my first build, I need to know what would be the best air cooler for LGA 1155 socket. Is the one I have in my "Shopping List" thread good enough or are there better ones I could get?
ZeroPenguins
Well my recommendation is the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme, works fine. But there might other products that are better, it used to be the best heatsink around a few years ago.
RikuoAmero
Okay, here's a list of LGA 1155 coolers, which is the best guys? As for that Thermalright eXtreme...I remember I've seen it (or something just like it) being used in practically every gaming rig video that I've watched on Youtube. However, its extremely big, so I'll put it in the maybe pile.http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/product/ZKB_01COM/13_COOLERS/03_CPU/productdetails/10021177/Cooler_Master_Hyper_TX_3_92_mm/RR_910_HTX3_GP/default.aspxhttp://www.amazon.com/Noctua-Heatpipe-Bearing-Cooler-NH-D14/dp/B002VKVZ1A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321293135&sr=8-1 (again, this is just huge...)http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/product/ZKB_01COM/13_COOLERS/03_CPU/productdetails/80003209/Scythe_Mugen_3_120mm/SCMG_3000/default.aspxhttp://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/product/ZKB_01COM/13_COOLERS/03_CPU/productdetails/15495613/ZALMAN_CNPS_10X_Quiet_120mm/CNPS10X_QUIET/default.aspxhttp://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/product/ZKB_01COM/13_COOLERS/03_CPU/productdetails/15488204/ZALMAN_CNPS_9900_NT_120mm/CNPS9900NT/default.aspx
ZeroPenguins
Out those 5 I did say the Noctua and Scythe Mugen are the best. Read some really good reviews on them. But I believe the Thermalright eXtreme was better, it might be big but not hard to install, also fits in a mid-tower I believe.
† L4ugh
I think I would go with the Noctua NH-D14. The reviews have it being as good as or better than a water cooled system. It is pretty bulky, but as long as it clears your ram, mobo heatsinks, and fits in your case I would go with it.Found a review on youtube that shows what is looks like installed. The guy is pretty long winded so if you just want the close up jump to about 7:20.EKHRPJfZ5Y8
