Koby
Okay so at home we can only have dial-up, so I go visit my grandma often and while I'm there I use her internet since she has a 3MB cable connection. Yesterday however they shut it off and it gave a message to contact them. When she did so, they claimed we were distributing a movie I never downloaded known as "Cloverfield", and they listed the full name. Which from my knowledge of movie rips I concluded it was a rip from someone named "nikonxp", and well as I said, I had never heard of this person, and I always downloaded movies from "aXXo".So while I was downloading movies... I hadn't downloaded the one they claimed they shut her internet down for. I can understand them shutting it down for this, but it was my understanding that a law known as "The Internet Privacy Act" was put in effect back in 2001 stating your ISP's couldn't monitor what you did online.. Though I'm probably way off, and it probably didn't mean it that way or something.Anyways, CableOne agreed to turn in back on after a verbal agreement and warning, and said it would take 1 to 24 hours for it to start working again. It's now been 32 hours and it has yet to start working.. On top of this, my grandma is all mad at me (and like I said, this particular movie I never downloaded).. and so I probably wont be able to use her computer or download anything.. which means I won't be able to keep up with all the anime I was watching, etc.. and a lot of the site updates were done at her house because my home connection is too slow.. so it would probably mean even less updates from me.. etc..What do you think of them doing this out of the blue? O.o Also apparently you shouldn't download anything from whoever this "nikonxp" is because apparently they are tracking all of his torrents. O.O But again, I never downloaded that file, so how in the hell are they claiming I am distributing it via their connection (I've never even distributed any movie rip either).. ? Koby
*Update*Apparently after waiting over 30 hours for them to reconnect like they said they would... they were lying the whole time. They gave my grandma the run around.. and then announced she can never have their service again..She just paid for the service for next month the day before too.. so they better be refunding it if they aren't going to give her the service she paid for.. I told her she should just cancel all things with them if they will be acting that way and then get Verizon DSL and Direct TV.
