RikuoAmero
I'm replaying Metal Gear Solid 4 for the umpteenth time, and I'm confused by one thing: they say South America, Europe etc, but they never name an actual country. Raiden says "Europe" but doesn't say exactly where...it's a big place mate!Anyone know why they never named actual countries?
Kasoivc
Shrugs. Ambiguous statements I suppose, just to let your mind wander and not point fingers anywhere specific for fear of political trouble. In recent years people have been raving and slashing each other over the misconstrued ideals portrayed in video games, like recently: Homefront was about the Chinese taking over the U.S. in the near future. Of course this game would market well in the U.S. because it spurs nationalism, but it probably would sell horribly in China because it's portraying the Chinese as "bad guys". Nero D. Ace
It's things like these that remind me of that scene from Air Force One.Gary Oldman kills a guy and then the President's daughter calls him a monster. Oldman counters by saying that he did it for love of Russia and that her father killed people too, indirectly by phone calls wearing a suit, which is perfectly logical. Then, the daughter gives the "Proud to be American" speech. While this may be popular in America, a lot of Russians wouldn't like it.Same thing in games. If you send in a guy to kill Arabians, people from Arab sure ain't gonna play it.
