So q.q I'm looking into digital artwork and media as a hobby, and I was wondering what are some things I could do. I have Photoshop CS5 and window's basic paint program to manipulate things with but I think I should get familiarized with Photoshop first before I go out and try to do some stuff. I was curious how some of the other forum members go about designing their artwork o.o

Also I remember awhilez back that paintbrushes were pretty important in designing like top knotch/visually appealing images so I'd kind of like to know what everyone else is using o.o

Edit: O.O I just sifted through Shazi's sig making thread D: I think I'll use most of my knowledge from there but I still want to know what paintbrushes to use XD

I use the basic round brushes a lot when tweaking images (i.e., painting, erasing, smudging). But if I want to add a little flair to a piece, I'll download some brushes. I try to download ones that fit the piece I'm working on. For example if it's a dark signature, I'll look for grunge, splatter, or fractal brushes. And if it's a light signature, I'll look for clouds, flowers, or sparkles. This is a good website for finding brushes; they have them categorized nicely.

A little tip: Open a new, large canvas, and use your brushes there. Then copy and paste it into the piece you're working on. This way you can resize and rotate your brushing to get it into the perfect position.

a good tip is to use the large "fluffy" looking brushes, that way you don't leave hard edges all over the place and make it look choppy. there is a sticky thread about brush downloads, grab a few that you like the look of and try them in erasing, placing and all kind of methods and see which ones you can use the most
