Steins Gate Discussion.

Steins;Gate is set in the summer of 2010, approximately one year after the events that took place in Chaos;Head, in Akihabara.

Steins;Gate is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.

So, I've watched the first 3 episodes of this show and I've got to say, it's quite enjoyable, I'll admit it makes great us of it's rather attractive female cast in a way that's non ecchi but still has me gaping, which is cool, the story so far, makes absolutely no sense, I know it's only just started but it seems they left out some details that have me a bit confused i.e Where did that microwave come from? who is the Organization, what the hell is up with the banana fetishes? and many more, Overall i'd say it's not the best anime of the season, but it's definitely worth watching.

So what does everyone else think about this show? Am I the only one confused here?

Steins;Gate

Synopsis:

Steins;Gate is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN, who has been doing their own research on time travel, tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.

Steins;Gate is a delightful combination of witty humor, scientific and philosophical conundrums, dramatic tension, and great volumes of moe goodness.

The show deals with a controversial subject that has long held humanity captive: time travel. The story is very intricate and always keeps you on your toes - you never know what's coming next. That said, it's not ride that goes full-throttle the whole trip; rather, everything is well-paced and the show hits a certain beat that is at once captivating and distinctly pleasant.

Steins;Gate has consistently managed to elicit emotional reactions from me, which is quite a feat in and of itself. I've often laughed with and at this anime, and I may have shed a manly tear or two at times.

The strong story is backed by phenomenal voice work and a strong soundtrack. In fact, this show probably has the highest voice-talent-to-cast-size ratio I've ever seen in an anime. The lead is played by the famous Miyano Mamoru, an amazing voice actor that can play a wide variety of roles exquisitely. He's accompanied by the Queen of Moe, Hanazawa Kana, and a number of extremely strong VAs that work as a cohesive unit to bring pleasure and incredible tension to the show.

Here's an image that shows only a small portion of the voice work done by Miyano Mamoru, the show's main character:

The show's visuals are also very well done.

There's something for everyone here, folks - this is not a show to be missed.

I agree with everything you said, I haven't enjoyed a non ecchi show this much in a while, the way they implemented some of the plot twists and the completely unexpected(for me at least) way Mayushi was used as well as the story and the main character Okarin who is basically all I could want in a main character along with all the other characters who each had distinct personalities that just flowed together perfectly just drew me in from the first few episodes, it's one of the few times imo that a story on time travel was done right.

Edit: Also, the VA for Okarin did light huh? I knew I recognized the epicness of his laugh from somewhere.

Don't you mean the visual Novel?, it has a fancier art style, but the story is basically the same, though since I haven't seen the last episode yet, I don't know which ending they went with, in some cases the character designs, seemed a bit more attractive in the anime as well, (Makise and Moeka)

Call it a visual novel if you want, its on mangastream : here

I wanted to watch the anime, but I think I'll wait for the dubs from funimation (they got the license) but if they take too much time and if I don't have any other anime to watch I'll watch this when all the episodes are downloaded on my computer.

Oh lol I didn't even know they had a manga,, I just knew that the anime was based of a visual novel,(point and click story game) with multiple endings, I have to admit Makise looks even hotter in the manga.

Steins Gate was my favorite show of the spring/summer season.

The entire show was an enjoyable whirlpool of awesome and lovable everything.

I know it sounds like I'm making no sense, but that's basically the show.

(Until you get exactly what's going on.)

Please watch the rest. You will not regret it.

At all. :D

Having just finished the show, let me just say one thin ...

*phone rings* It's me. No, I'm still on track. Don't worry, they won't get to me that easily. El Psy Congroo.

Anyways, where was I ... ah yes, everything shown in the show is a work of fiction and any similarity with real people are purely coincidental.

There is no such thing as the Organization ... or so they'll have you believe.

But never mind, I've already said too much. In any case, if you liked Higurashi and have been just tortured around waiting for another season, have no fear and watch Steins Gate cuz it is just as much a mindfuck as When They Cry and possibly even more enjoyable.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Does anyone of you know when this is going to be dubbed in English, because I've downloaded some episodes in sub (I don't know if I have all of them) and I want to buy it, but it won't be released here if it's not in English.

Also, is the rest of the manga is available? I know mangastream.com have released up to chapter 12, but the story isn't finished.
