It's suppose to be a film that comes out this year, the film is suppose to cover the 25 episode anime series that came out in 1997. It is said that this is the start of an ongoing project which could mean more films to come after this since this film is kind of a recap of the first anime.

Was skimming through things and found some quotes from the the official Berserk Twitter Berserk Project that they said back on Jan. 6th 2011....

"BERSERK will be made into animated movie! This movie is a first part of BERSERK SAGA PROJECT. "

"The original work is a long serialized story which carries on for more than twenty years."

"The aim of the project is to make the movies faithful to the original. The first movie of the series will appear within the year!"

this is great news but i cant help but feel a little disappointed that they are making movies and not a new series.

Exactly what I was thinking. All I wanted was another series to carry on where the last one left off, the anime was well done and should not need to be "rebooted"/Replaced.

Well actually the way they worded it, they tip toed around actually saying this was going to be a movie series by just saying the first part of the saga is going to be a movie. The project they are saying could take a decade to complete because the manga is not finished. So they will be implementing different ways to keep the saga consistently going at a fair pace that isn't too slow and not too fast as to catch up to the manga. It could be a movie we know, but the next part could be anything like short series, or an ova or another movie. Who knows, they are leaving it open for anything the way their talking.
