Nero D. Ace
It's been quite a while since I made this thread and my opinion has changed ... not at all.If anything, their uselessness has far increased in my eyes. Here's what I saw -To all those who say that cops prevent crimes from happening -There was this cop guy standing at the traffic corner handing out tickets to any biker who wasn't wearing a helmet and drivers who weren't wearing belts. About 10 feet away from him, 3 punks were mugging a shop-keeper, waving what looked to me like a gun in his face and trashing the poor guy's store. Just about everyone saw it, even the cop unless he was blind. What did he do? Keep giving out tickets. That's right. Apparently, keeping the law isn't nearly as important as meeting the monthly ticket quota anymore. Also, under-age driving is a common thing where I live. In my villages, I've seen upto 12 year olds driving motor bikes. It may be uncommon for most people but it's common as anything seeing a 16 year old driving a car. Now, we have literally millions of crimes happening in the city everyday. I know this because I see one at least once everyday. Instead of upholding the law and doing their duty to stop ACTUAL CRIME, The cops here seem to believe that under-age driving beats rape, robbery, destruction of public property, etc; so much so that they decided to skip an entire day every day to raid schools to issue tickets to helpless kids whose parents live far away or have jobs in the middle of the day and can't come pick them up, or have extra tuitions to study for after school. All these reasons I'm giving - They are 100% valid. You can run a search for Indian students and look 'em up.As for robbery, hell one time my uncle's motorbike got stolen from our house. We filed a report with the cops. They said they would look into it. We went to the station a week later, waited 2 hours for a single ACTUAL cop to show up there and found out they had lost the F.I.R. Sixela
So cops in your area are useless. Means nothing except you need new cops. Doesn't change anything in regard to the rest of the world. Every cop I have seen has been doing good work, and that is what I base my opinion on.
Nero D. Ace
Well, we both have our opinions based on what we've seen then. You may have seen the nice friendly cops helping the old lady cross the street but ever since I've been growing up, what I've learned is that when you have a problem, DON'T call the cops. Ask your parents, your buddies, that guy living in the trash can and then when every last option has run out, go to your enemy and beg for his help. Avith
@Indy D. Ace - Sounds pretty rough where you live if people are willing to rob in front of a cop.I've had mostly poor experiences with the cops myself and I've never commited ANY kind of crime. I've been harassed by cops before for no reason or because I "fit a description". When I ask about the person that I "fit the description" with, they ignore me and don't answer. I've had cops tailgate me on the road. I've been tackled to the ground by a cop because I was "resisting". Resisting?! I had headphones on and I was out jogging. I couldn't even see or hear him behind me. Seriously WTF?! Most cops I know when on and off duty seemed very rude and unreliable ... with the exception of just one I knew personally only off duty. One time my friend's motorbike was stolen. He reported it stolen, told them who stole it, where they were hiding it, and not one cop showed up. kaoru
Silly evaluation really ... if you knew a person who has lost his/her dear one in an accident due to under-aged diving then you would actually appreciate the fines that the police really collect and for the other evils like theft and stuff yah the police is pretty useless ...I do and not at all. Accidents happen, the fear of being pulled over/getting a ticket doesn't have much to do the way that people drive and their ability (or lack thereof). The police is for most part pretty useless and serve as the obnoxious party-stoppers of 21st century- however the *ideia* behind it is basically right, and necessary to prevent people for doing what they like and have a free-for-all. So if I have to blame anyone, I blame the goverments and law-makers; Most judicial systems are either too enforced (hint: china), too hypocritical (usa) or too bureucratic to function. (europe) I was once arrested for having just ONE joint on me (which they legally can't do in my country) just so they could spend a couple of hours giving me their life lesson on how drugs are bad for you yada yada.. and to tell you the truth they were not all that good at it; i just smirked in their faces and explained how it would be good for them. Halfway in the lecture they got a call for a gas station that had been robbed and let me go, didin't even gave me a ride back to my car. It was just their idea of fun I guess. I also had my car illegaly searched twice, one for missing a document while being pulled over, the other one by the anti-narcotics bunch in my town at night, just because they said "it was after-hours". They've never caught me thou, bad timing. Fuck tha police.
bey_tops
It varies, there are many cops who are corrupted but there are some who are loyal to their duty.
