I really don't know much about most of these shows, but here are some ones that others I know have highly rated...

Cooking Master Boy - 52; completed

Synopsis: "The story takes place in 19th century China during the Qing Dynasty, where the Emperor was weakened and the country was close to chaos. It is also during a fictitious era called "The Era of the Cooking Wars". It was an era in which top chefs with different cooking styles tried their best to improve their skills and to become the best chef in China. It is a country where insulting a high-grade chef or fooling around with cooking could land a person in a jail, and impersonating a top-chef is as good as usurpation of authority. Chefs compete with each other in order to gain respect and even power, but also with the risks of losing everything."

Cooking Papa - 151 episodes; completed

Synopsis: "The story of Mr. Araiwa and his family. He is a model employee in a large enterprise, but becomes a completely different character at home. He is very keen on cooking and lets pass no occasion to cook delicious dishes for his wife, who is frequently occupied by her work as a journalist, or his young son."

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Antique Bakery...food is an important part of the story it's not all there is...it also has a bit of Boy Love so if you can't cope with that then it's not for you :)

Are you after something that is all about the food iron chef style or just related like Working that deals with the going-ons in a restaurant?

These I realize are not fully centered around cooking but this is all I could find that are themed around it. It really is just hard to find a "newer" cooking anime. There just aren't that many cooking animes anymore. There are actually quite a few manga though...

Yumeiro Patissiere

Synopsis: 14-year-old Ichigo Amano is clumsy and doesn't have any talent except for eating sweets (specifically cakes). When she stumbles upon a Sweets Festival, she meets Henri-sensei who acknowledges her ability of taste and invites her to transfer to St. Marie Academy to become a pâtissière. Ichigo has trouble adjusting initially, but with the help of the 3 Sweets Princes and the Sweets Spirits, she gains the confidence and skill to work towards becoming a pâtissière

Yakitate!! Japan

Synopsis: Yakitate means "fresh baked", but the word "Japan" is actually a pun - pan means bread in Japanese, so Kazuma is out to make Japan, a unique Japanese bread to compete with the best bread from around the world!
