Falcom has announced a The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel TV anime project. It will air in 2022.

The original series depicted the story of protagonist Rean Schwarzer and his companions throughout four titles set in the giant military nation of Erebonia, but the anime series will depict a story based on the original series, set in the western part of the Zemurian continent.

The TV anime project is a global project by four companies: UserJoy Technology, a major game company that has released Falcom products in Taiwan and Asian countries; Funimation Global Group, a global distributor of anime; SYOU, a content fund; and NADA Holdings, an anime product planning company.

Further details were not announced.

Did you ever wind up watching Northern War? I heard a lot of trash-talk about it, and I'm currently watching it. In my opinion it's nowhere near as bad as the crying toddlers made it out to be. Not the best thing ever...but well above passable (so far).

I watched episode one and then put it on hold cause I was waiting on a buddy to finish up their fansubs that still to this day haven't been released lmao. Need to get back to it. I didn't figure it'd be fantastic, seeing how it's largely meant to just be some filler about the what happened between CS2 and CS3 that largely got glossed over in the games with not much more than a "it happened". But it can still be an enjoyable ride and it makes me curious if any of these anime-only characters will eventually show up in the games.

That's the sense I got as well, but within Chapter 1 of CS III I've counted 5 mentions of the war, a "golden panzer soldat" that was seen there, and are multiple allusions to something that happened to Instructor Sara while there. It seems that Altina, Sara & Rean undertook some special operation that won the war swiftly or at least limited casualties. Of course, these events may be detailed later in the game so perhaps it's a moot point. I haven't finished the series yet, so I'll report back if it seems like it adds any real meat to the story.

I'll admit my biases here: I'm a big fan of game world maps & theorizing what goes on in the regions we don't see. I did this a lot with the map of Tamriel that came with Oblivion, the Strangereal map from Ace Combat, maps on the inside covers of LotR & Eragon books....and my new favorite, Zemuria. I'm also partial to snowy landscapes. The "northern" snowy zone of most RPGs is my favorite area. Within Kiseki, that's North Ambria...thus I have a vested interest.
