After getting pointed towards this section of the board by Koby; I would like to ask if there's any anime series I should that are considered essentials so I can try watching to get my feet wet. Keep in mind that the only anime I watched as a kid was fighting-oriented series that ran on Toonami from the early 2000's (like Dragon Ball Z, YuYu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin). And while I still like the shows a little even now (in fact, I have been trying to catch up on Rurouni Kenshin through streams that I catch from another forum); it'd be nice to watch something else as well. It doesn't really matter if it's an English dub or if it's in Japanese with English subtitles; II'll try to follow along either way. If I had to look for a particular genre to look at, I'd like to see something focusing on either Fantasy, Mystery or Slice of Life; but I can try watching a series from any genre to be honest. Vaux Posted June 22, 2015 Report Share Posted June 22, 2015 I always think of Cowboy Bebop as being a good place to start watching anime, it's a comedy, sci-fi series about bounty hunters who are nearly always broke. AS for your genres: Fantasy (it's quite a large genre)- Sword Art Online - Black Butler- Samurai 7- Eureka Seven Mystery- Another- Psycho Pass Slice of Life (not 100% sure about this one)- Ben-to- Clannad As far as discovering series I generally find that looking through threads in the Dual-Audio section quite useful.
