utorrent peers

so im trying to figure out why some of the peers in my trackers are just sitting there doing nothing. they are neither uploading nor downloading. I am using peer block but shouldnt that prevent them from showing up?

Yes... But you don't need to worry about it. It's how torrenting works.

What exactly are u saying yes to. I know torrenting broadcasts Ur IP but shouldn't only do that to people who are actually you know tierenting. And those IP address aren't the one blocked

Probably the peers aren't seeding/downloading. I'm using Vuze and it shows me 2-5 peer on this torrent I've was seeding. Found out they where connected but wasn't collecting data. It happens from time to time. Just as JohnFlower said "It's how torrenting works." What bittorrent program are you using?

I'm saying there is a way (in uTorrent and rTorrent) to disconnect inactive peers. It's stupid and ruins the experience for others.

Your IP will be broadcast to anyone connecting to the torrent anyway. If you don't want this to happen, you will need a VPN.
