I'm guessing some of these are just teams that will be localizing western titles like Ubisoft with Assassins Creed for the Japanese market.

I hope a RPG or two comes out from these studios, the few the 360 got were insanely good.

As long as they aren't exclusive, because last gen exclusivity of Japanese centric games to 360 just about killed many Japanese studios.

^^^This.

Because I'm not getting this privacy infringing system just for what would only amount to 1 game.

(Due to Atlus and the possibility of the game being Persona 6)

I know Mistwaker is working on a JRPG exclusive to Wii U (which Nintendo is funding). It hasn't been officially titled but the art they released looked very similar to the Wii RPG "The Last Story" the previous game they did.

I was being sarcastic, obviously they didn't go out of usiness. Goes without saying all three of their RPG 360 titles (Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Tales of Vesperia. Not counting Eternal Sonata because it was shit.) each sold almost a million. Pretty good when outside of FF13 the only other Japnese made RPG this last gen that broke a million was Xillia.

I'm looking more forward to Monolith Soft's game.

I get you like xbox and that's fine I really liked the first xbox back in the day. Lost odyssey may have limped over a mill but the others didn't. Valkyria chronicles, Nino Kuni, and many others have broke a mill, last gen. Without IOS/mobile and ninety I doubt mistwaker would be doing much. The RPG market back in the day, in japan was on Ninty and PS and when xbox bought the rpgs, their market didn't move and suddenly the narrative was that RPGs were out of fashion, when they did poorly. Any rpg that did make it onto PS or Ninty consoles that last gen almost always doubled what xbox got in sales.

Now just to be clear if Xbox funded it/made it, I have absolutely no problem with that. What I did have a problem with was MS buying up RPG stables like Tales, and the like. I also blame the devs for taking the money and thinking their original fanbase would follow like sheep. They didn't follow, which constantly hurt those franchise's and the Japonese console market as well. (I also think the jump to HD hurt the Japanese market too)

Anyway this is just my thoughts and feelings on the subject. Don't want this to go all console war stupid or anything. Regards Rei

Actually you're right, I had my filter set to Japanese sales. Ni No Kuni, VC and White Knight all broke a million. The red flag I should have paid attention to was Demons Souls not being there, that game had crazy import sales.

The thing is the fans didn't follow, it's that people converted. Everyone and their grandmother had a PS2 and yes while they may have plyed a Ratchet, Jak, God of War and any other numebr of exclusives, they never really cared about Sony. Couple that with their lack of games at the PS3 launch and a $600 price tag and plenty of people saw no reason not to go for a 360. Plenty of people that had played Tales of Abyss were now possibly 360 owners which is why Vesperia got the sales it did in the west. I guess you can factor in that Vesperia was also a really God damn good game.

Japanese gaming has been on the decline with the rise in popularity of Apple shit there and other handhelds. Gaming has always been a social thing there, so being able to meet up somewhere public and play together is big. So console game sales have dropped severly as of late.

So while the whole point of funding the RPG's by MS was to attract Japanese people and it didn't really work, the sales did about what they would have on any console in the West. The good ones did well and the bad ones didn't.

This actually brings us full circle. MS said they had a big announcement from a Japanese studio releasing a exclusive game to coincide with their release of the new console in Japan slated for September.

So it's anyones guess from which studio listed above is releasing a game for the Xbox One launch there.

Those are just a couple exclusives, lets not forget the multiplats that will be skipping the Wii U like Soul Suspect and Evil Within. One probably becoming a instant classic/hit while the other is being headed up by the creator of Resident Evil so who knows what kind of horrors are in store.
