dwayanu
At least, I think Gadi Mirrabooka means "beneath the Southern Cross", but since I don't actually speak any Aboriginal dialects... (This is what happens when you try to make an interesting start to your introductory post, so be warned!) Anyway, this is just a quick introductory post - as already mentioned at the start of this introductory post! I am Dwayanu, or at least that is the nom de plume that I tend to use on the net. Dwayanu is, of course, the name (or should that be one of the names?!) of the protagonist from Abraham Merritt's wonderful "Dwellers in the MIrage". One of those old lost world novels, a la H. Rider Haggard's "King Solomon's Mines" & "She", that nobody seems to write anymore. Of course, Merritt has absolutely nothing to do with either anime (dubbed, subbed or dual-audio) or cartoons (I was tempted to say Western cartoons!). And that is what has led me here. From Cartoon World, where I was a infrequent visitor but loyal leecher. Shame on me! I don't tend to watch much anime or cartoons now-a-days, although I certainly did so back in the day, when I was helping to run one of the many 90's anime clubs. So, my favourite anime, perhaps rather predictably, is some of the classics. I used to use the old "if the house was on fire test", as in "which tapes would you grab first", to identify the faves: Laputa, Cagliotro's Castle, Maison Ikkoku, Dirty Pair, Macross, Mopeada, Combustible Campus Guardress, Bastard!!, Fushigi no Umi no Nadia... I would have went up with the house! My continuing interest in my old hobbies is partially active, partially nostalgia and predominantly about my nieces and nephews. Yes, I have many such and they've "somehow" picked up some of my old bad habits. Anyway, I'm hoping to more active this time around - I could hardly be less! Until next post, Dwayanu
